The radical left can try to keep people from assimilating but it won't work. No one is a perpetual immigrant. As your family is here for a few generations you cut most ties to the old country. We know assimilation works in the USA because it always has. I'm not sure if nation states in Europe will be as successful. Total assimilation takes a couple generations. Too many people mistakenly think their own ancestors from Germany or Italy immediately had a surfer accent and like McDonald's 5 minutes after their boat landed.

Yes, I think we are in agreement for the most part. As I stated, immigrants, coming from Europe did not assimilate at once and yes, it has always taken a few generations.
You're equally correct, that many immigrants do very well, including my immigrant partner. However, my emphasis was and is that it is a bit different today, in that the left wishes to change it today by stalling assimilation in some grand multicultural scheme.
We are a stronger nation when we have an Amerian culture and when people assimilate. And, I also agree, despite the best efforts of the radical left, people will continue to assimilate. They, and we as a nation, need to stop focusing so much on race and ethnicity however, and think of ourselves as one American nation with one mainstream culture.

If we allow it to occur naturally, people from anywhere can and will become Americans not only in name of a piece of paper, but in thoughts, in actions and in respect for the country and our traditions and language.

There is nothing natural nor lawful about continued massive illegal immigration. It results in colonization not assimilation. The immigrants of the past all melted into the American culture they didn't come here illegally either and since that immigration was diversified it didn't result in colonization by one group.
Many if not most Hispanics even though they learn English out of necessity they are adamant about speaking Spanish as their primary language of usage out in public. That's not assimilation to me. No, they want to remain Hispanic culturally not American out in mainstream.
Another absurd reply. Why is it so important to you that America retain a white majority?

Why is it a bad thing for whites to remain the majority in this country? However, that wasn't my argument if you'd just go back and read what I actually said! I also said that race and skin color were irrelevant to me retaining our identifying culture is what I desire. Reading comprehension is essential.
Regardless of what race you are we should all be furious about the invasion from our southern border.
Calling it an invasion is way of dehumanizing people who are just looking for a better life just like all the immigrants that came to the US in the past.
