I’ll be the first to admit that this isn’t exactly Earth-shattering news, but nearly every time we cover a story involving California Governor Gavin Newsom it deals with him doing something either stupid, foolish, outrageous or some combination of the three. So when the occasion rises to note him doing the right thing, I think we owe it to him to point it out in the interest of fairness. California is generally considered Ground Zero for the #RESIST movement and there’s no lack of people bashing the President out there. And yet, in the wake of two powerful earthquakes, the Governor went out in public and appealed to the citizens of his state, pointing out that President Trump is dedicated to helping the state recover, putting partisan differences aside in the face of a natural disaster. (Associated Press)
Quote:
The Democratic governor said “there’s no question we don’t agree on everything, but one area where there’s no politics, where we work extremely well together, is our response to emergencies.”
“He’s committed in the long haul, the long run, to help support the rebuilding efforts,” Newsom said of Trump.

A rare moment of lucidity from Gavin Newsom. I doubt the loons in his state will be half as gracious.

Governors are always going to suck up to a POTUS, even of the opposite party, when their state needs federal money.

The right got mad when the shoe was on the other foot and Christie did it to Obama during Sandy.

And that's perfectly fine, this is just the CA governor doing what he should be doing to look after the needs of the people in his state.

Well, people are just surprised Newsom is trying to help people of California that aren’t illegals or criminals. Kind of shocking.

He has NO choice. He is backed into a corner. When it is something discretionary it is ALL about ILLEGAL ALIENS getting free stuff and rights they shouldn't possess.

It is strange, isn't it? Usually the left's compassion is reserved solely for non-Americans.

Usually the right has no idea what it is talking about. Case in point right here.

How so? Because we want our politicians to represent and support actual American citizens not foreign, illegal aliens?

I'd agree but I doubt very much he would be singing praises if the response wasn't at least adequate.
