I'm surprised the liberals are not more concerned about the impact on global warming due to the fire.

Sprinklers are not for putting out fire. They are for containing a fire long enough to get people out. Western laws and codes are for LIFE safety. Most commercial spaces are good for 60 minutes after a fire starts - 60 min has been studied to be long enough to get everyone out safely. Hospitals, high-rises, and large buildings are different.

Yeah, that takes a degree of technical know-how and resources though so people (perhaps rightfully) put those in a different category. It could have been far worse in terms of death if that had been his sole goal.

Imagine someone with McVeighs track record of military service had applied for and started a job driving 10,000 gallon gasoline trucks as well?

For the more mundane villains with workplace beefs, mental illness etc. the access to guns can be refused but that still leaves open the rental truck or arson options.

That really carves the gun violence issue up into what's left and most of that is either gangs\drugs or domestic situations often with gang\drug implications.

I agree that it shouldn't be joked about.

I think that people often use the worst responses to dismiss the topic and thus escape from having to face and discuss the root issues.

Well, arson and the box-truck attacks of recent years (among others) clearly refute that.

I look at the current situation in the western US and we BOTH know the kind of horror that could be done without a single bullet.
The Japanese don’t want a massively armed society. Who are we to argue about it?
