Our Women's team the best of the best. Just last night they beat Japan 3-1. Nice large crowd.

US Soccer collects funds from the youth leagues (Part of the cost of the player pass) to the pro teams.

It's time the women get paid the same as the men.

They are correct that men are stronger and better players but that isn't the point of the lawsuit and certainly not the reason the women are suing.
The US soccer mens team is now supporting the lawsuit filed by the USWT
Quote:
The United States Soccer Federation apologized Wednesday night for arguing in legal filings this week that “indisputable science” proved that the players on its World Cup-winning women’s national team were inferior to men.

“On behalf of U.S. Soccer,” Cordeiro said, “I sincerely apologize for the offense and pain caused by language in this week’s court filing, which did not reflect the values of our federation or our tremendous admiration of our women’s national team.”

The arguments, made as the team and U.S. Soccer face an increasingly unbridgeable gap as they brace for a federal trial in May, infuriated the players, as well as at least three powerful U.S. Soccer board members.

1) Yes, the point of the lawsuit is that they would have came nowhere near the mens pay level via arbitration.

2) I'm glad the mens team is supporting them, the only reason they make so much more is because they routinely get mopped by the likes of Brazil and Argentina and that pays big cash. They also make a lot more money playing pro-soccer so they can afford to spread it around a bit.

Frankly, if the mens team is willing to take a pay cut to balance out the salaries then I don't know what the argument would be.

The bottom line is that the womens team does well at the stadium gate but the mens team makes huge TV money in south and central america as well as Europe.

The issue with pay has more to do with the financial status of women's soccer worldwide. I think some countries are starting to catch up, but I believe that the US women's team was bar none the best funded women's national team for a long time. Seeing that the success of the US women's team does generally elevate the stature of US soccer world-wide, the women's team are in solid position for negotiating better performance pay in their next CBA. Until then...

This isn’t about the men’s team it’s equity within the US Soccer federation. The men’s team isn’t losing to Brazil and Argentina, they are losing to Trinidad, Costa Rica and Ghana.

The women’s team is extremely popular and successful compared to the men’s team.

This will be settled in a few months in court.

It's time to read up.

I do think they have extremely valid points about working conditions and travel arrangements, but I suspect that the lawsuit is mostly about creating negotiating leverage for the next CBA and maybe even generating more buzz/support for the team and/or women's soccer internationally. Or it could just be a forlorn hope. The US Soccer Federation is going to be put in the very unenviable position of taking down the US women's team's arguments in court.

The pay shows the women earn a higher salary than the men even though the men bring in greater revenue. Yes, the men get more money but not from salaries. This is how their contracts were negotiated.
They really need to shut up. All they do is whine and complain. They dont make as much because the women's soccer team doesnt bring in as much revenue as the men's team does. Complaining and whining changes none of that. Also, its hypocritical that they let hope solo play when she was arrested for domestic violence.
