Like my granny used to tell us, if you can't say something nice, be quiet.
Speaking ill of the dead is just tacky.
I rarely celebrate someone dying...and being selfish, as the Kochs are, is not a crime. It may be wrong, it may be unfortunate for our land, water, air and politics...but that is that.
Personally I wish he'd lived a long life and learned more lessons and perhaps come around. We know they didn't support Trump, for example, and they did believe in immigration being the Great American Economic accelerator.
They had already largely cut off Trump from the big bucks, preferring to manipulate, threaten and bully legislators.
It's always amazing to me how the 'Koch brothers' became such a targeted bogeyman over the past few years. I remember seeing an interview by Brian Lamb of CSPAN of a libertarian writer named Virginia Postrel around 2000. She was working for Reason, and so Brian ticked off a list of their top supporters, and asked about them. One was a Koch bro., and Brian did not know how to pronounce the name. Postrel had to pronounce it for him.
Within the next few years, the 'Koch bros' became almost synonymous with 'the devils.' Why? Who knows, all mythologies require devils and demons. By 2000 Charles and David Koch had been active for a long time. IIRC David was VP candidate for the libertarian ticket in 1980.
IMO they became bogeymen in the same manner as bell-bottom pants became popular in the 1960s or zoot suits in the 1930s.
Perhaps people will start thinking for themselves once CNN decides to become an actual news organization, a part of a truly free press, more interested in reporting real news rather than whining about some election they didn’t approve of.
Any horrible atrocities attributed to the Koch brothers pale in comparison to the fact that real journalism does not exist in this country. Nothing but propaganda pushed by bubble dwellers reading press releases.
And thanks to DT/GOP new tax laws that both Koch bothers endorsed and pushed for David Koch's estate will be paying far less taxes than they otherwise would.
Good. Estates shouldn’t be taxed anyway. It was taxed when it was earned by the person who built the estate.
He died before his Epstein stuff hit the fan.......another one gone.
Not that a guy like Koch has anything to worry about. We won't see anyone of great wealth or power taken down by the Epstein thing. That's over.
I was just watching Patriot Act, and learned that the Koch brothers were anti-public transit and had a hand in jacking up public transportation in many places.
He was a globalist scum. He never “conserved” anything except his own wealth. He took the worst parts of the corporate right and open borders left and melded them together in a perverted anti-American policy.
Everyone dies someday. He was lucky to be rich enough to survive as long as he did.
Living to 79 doesn't seem like a long life to me. Most of the people in my family who took decent care of themselves lived from their late 80s up to 104.
Should I be sad that a major financier of the Republican Party, one who specifically targeted his donations towards weakening environmental regulations meant to protect the planet, is no longer with us?
I'm not. RIP anyway.
