Here’s how the Democrat candidates can refute their hypocrisy and put forth a start on having a meaningful conversation on gun control as they see it:

1) Every candidate can forswear any armed protection from any source while on the campaign trail.

2) The nominee, once selected, will forego any armed protection from armed Secret Service agents.

3) If they win, on the day of their inauguration, from the moment they lower their hand at the swearing in, all Secret Service agents and all Federal Protective Service personnel within the boundaries of DC will disarm immediately.

4) On Inauguration Day, before the parties start, they will sign an Executive Order directing all federal officers to disarm. Selective teams within each organization may be armed but are not to be on watch during the shift and will respond as needed. Armed officers may carry no more than a 5-round revolver.

5) Capitol Hill Police and anyone else protecting the Capitol and it’s environs shall be disarmed and issued whistles in place of firearms.

6) A program of confiscation of arms from within the hearts of cities with the highest shooting rates will commence with members of the Presidential Cabinet and leaders of Congress personally heading the teams making such raids. The 5-round revolver rule applies here as well.

7) All Secret Service agents shall be disarmed and issued whistles.

8) FBI agents, FPS, Diplomatic Security Corps, etc., while on duty, shall have whistles and only senior agents in charge at each office shall be issued a revolver and no more than 5 rounds of ammunition, to be kept apart from the arm which itself shall be secured.

9) No metropolitan or municipal police force who has officers who continue to carry arms shall receive any federal funds or any cooperation from federal offices in carrying out their mission.

10) None of the above shall apply to any DHS or Border Patrol Officers in the mission of protecting our nation’s borders.

11) Armed bodyguards of any type shall be prohibited nationwide. (Sorry Hollywood, this means you!)

Do all of this and then ask law abiding citizens about their firearms. Maybe we’ll talk, maybe we won’t. But in any case, it’ll show sincerity about using gun control as a means to an end.

They can disarm and sign whatever they want. I, on the other hand, will not.
