Ran across this website and article. If it has any credibility, it sure seems like many are taking a legitimate concern and trying to profit from it. Is it that or just a conspiracy made up by the right wing ?
All you have to do is match up the rhetoric with their lifestyle.
If you are buying homes on the beach, are you really concerned about rising sea levels?
If you are traveling all over the world and living a lavish existence, are you really concerned with excess CO2?
And you have to follow the money. Who and what industries would profit? Australia recently paid $320,000 for a weekend climate conference. Someone profited from that. Books have been written - were they given away for free? Movies have been made - was there free admission?
Lately I have been hearing about direct carbon capture technology. They are not just looking to remove it - but to reformulate it, and profit from it's reuse. If they can do that - great, but why scare everyone into thinking the world will end when they truly have no clue about that? Answer - because it drives people into their climate industry.
Accusing scientists of trying to make money off of climate change is a right wing smear tactic, pure and simple.
The climate denier side started as an astroturf effort funded by the fossil fuel industry. The oil and gas companies know that climate change is real. They want to gin up as much public distrust in science as possible to buy time so they can keep selling oil and gas.
Greedy energy corporations are trying to maximize profits today at the expense of our kids' and grandkids' future. It's disgusting.

Oil companies do not scare people with end of the world scenarios. They provide a product, and make a profit. This is normal.
