Wait I thought China was a partner in the 2020 elections?
How can they help the President if we can’t do “business” with them?

I suspect these Republican congressmen do not want Trump re-elected. They should support further cooperation between USA and China on elections and other matters.

In this case - Morey has to apologize and hide what he really believes because there is a lot to loose... because he already doesn't have enough money already, right?
What does Morey really believe? That America should stop supporting a dictatorship that decapitates and chops up people in their embassies? At least Morey would have some real power and influence over American foreign policy unlike Chinese foreign policy.

But instead he chooses to spend his energy posturing about so-called freedom when he has no influence over it? If a person was truly interested in freedom he would spend energy where he can have the most influence. Makes sense, right?

What are you talking about? He made a statement of support for the protesters in Hong Kong. No one is talking about foreign policy.

"Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong."

China complains... the NBA sucks up to them. The message? Freedom doesn't seem to be that important in the light of the Chinese dollars at risk. It's all about how they benefit.

It'll be so cool to see Lebron wearing a Stand With Hong Kong shirt on the opening night of the new NBA season.

The NBA sold themselves out big time to the Chinese. Good to see rare bipartisan agreement that this is ridiculous.

The NBA is acting like capitalist pigs selling out to the commie pigs in Beijing. Pretty sad when you look at the history of the NBA.

This was the league that let a young man named Kareen Abdul Jabbar speak his mind on the issues of his day even when what the star had to say wasn't that popular.

Kareem was always the "thinking man's" athlete given his intellectual/cerebral disposition. Haven't seen him say anything on this yet. But really hoping "Cap" comes out with a strong statement against this. Don't let us (the American public) down Kareem.

Default China state TV halts NBA preseason game broadcasts

"Cancel culture" is alive and well in Communist China, as Chinese State TV (Government controlled) is cancelling two NBA Preseason games in response to Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey's tweet in support of Hong Kong protesters last week.

China state TV halts NBA preseason game broadcasts

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV announced Tuesday it will no longer air two NBA preseason games set to be played in the country.

In a statement, CCTV indicated the decision was prompted by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's remarks in Japan following a tweet by Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey last week that supported anti-government demonstrations in Hong Kong. The broadcaster is also reviewing all its cooperation and exchanges involving the NBA, said the statement posted to CCTV Sports' official social media account.

"We're strongly dissatisfied and oppose Adam Silver's claim to support Morey's right to freedom of expression," CCTV said. "We believe that any remarks that challenge national sovereignty and social stability are not within the scope of freedom of speech."
Birds of a feather.... Not only do they support canceling these games in an effort to try to bully the NBA into compliance with their oppressive practice of cultural Marxism (the economics of China is actually quite fascist, as they do now increasingly embrace free markets, corporate ownership and property rights, albeit under the direction and control of the state as they require). They also are openly opposed to freedom of speech for those whose thoughts and words deviate from their approved standards of "Political correctness".

Is anyone really surprised by any of this? These people are leftists, as all communists are, and as such they share a great deal in common with the Democrat leftists here in this country.

All that being said, as a business executive whose job is to promote the business success of the Houston Rockets, this tweet made no sense to me at all. The Rockets have spent years promoting and building their brand in China going back to the days of Yao Ming, the former all-star Center for the Houston Rockets.

I share GM Daryl Morey's sentiments in support of the people of Hong Kong and their brave fight against the autocratic leftist thug regime in Beijing that is behind the efforts to strip the people of Hong Kong of their freedom and their human rights. But as the business leader of the Rockets, what was he thinking?

Anyway, the paragraph in red published above by Chinese State TV, openly attacking Morey's remarks as "not within the scope of freedom of speech," is chilling, to say the least. Adam Silver, the NBA Commissioner did well to support Morey's right to freedom of speech, and he will also be right to privately call him a dumb___ for promoting these remarks so publicly, which are unhelpful to NBA marketing efforts in China, regardless of what statements the Chinese government makes about this.

Do we want to enable this sort "Politically correct" cultural Marxism here in this country, stifling freedom of speech by harassing and terrorizing people into silence and submission? Not if we want to remain a free country, we shouldn't.

So....you don’t get to crap on china and then make money from it......what’s wrong with that? Hong Kong belongs to China and some people are having a hard time coming around to that reality. Crying about it won’t help. Lol

Kinda arrogant to say you allow China to get this wealthy....really? America has superpowers ?

Your ideological screed tells us more about you than anything. I am a moderate Democrat and am totally appalled by the NBA's selling out to the commie pigs in Beijing.

That said, there is plenty of opposition to this move from liberal voices in the USA including the NYT's editorial board, many other liberal publications as well as Democratic lawmakers.

Moreover, many of the "capitalist" owners of the NBA teams tripped over themselves to kiss Beijing's you know what.

This is actually a rare moment when a large swath of the right and left in the USA can come together on an issue. But you have to go and make it about you and your narrow world view. I suggest you let go of your self-imposed ideological straight jacket....
