You are saying socialism when you mean to say social programs. Despite what stupid or dishonest people would have you believe, social programs are not socialism.

Socialism seeks to overthrow capitalism and install communism, essentially the goal of socialism is communism... its just a step towards that goal.

Capitalism and socialism cannot coexist for any meaningful period if time. Also, just so people know, socialism is inherently authoritarian and always ends up being abusive and horrible.

Imo no one over the age of 25 should be naive enough to think socialism is a good idea.

In what country do people live like that?

How does capitalism profit from feeding poor people as well as medical care for them?

Once that happens, liberals will cast blacks completely off to the side as they will no longer be needed. Of course, blacks will still vote D out of tradition. Who needs to win on policy and law when you can just give out free sh*t?
What is free? People in Section 8 housing have to pay a small part of the rent.

There has to be a balance of socialism (redistribution of wealth) and capitalism. If you have 100% capitalism, sooner or later you end up with the very talented and able and lucky having all the money and then an underclass that has nothing at all.

We have capitalism but with some socialist type programs. Maybe we're mixing up our terminology but I don't think any of us want other Americans to be starving while others are raking it in. What kind of human beings are we if we want that sort of thing in our country!

Sure, but that's not the point.

The point is someone can have no financial responsibilities and be fine.

Usually people need something beyond their own hobbies/ social work but one person is proof that the entire philosophical underlining of "pull yourself from the bootstrap" is flawed.

My niece has 3 kids with 3 different fathers. She quit high school but later got her GED. She has no job, no security, no education and lives off welfare and food stamps. And btw, she is a staunch Republican. So I guess republicans favor socialism too.

Better fed, healthier people make better, more efficient workers. More productive, more efficient workers lead to more profit.

The next time that Fox News speaks out against socialism, remember that when namesake William Fox was 12-15, he was in favor of socialism.

I am a capitalist and feeding the poor and providing them healthcare is not my problem. I pay for my stuff and they can too.
