According to YouGov, which conducted the poll, capitalism, amid a widening divided between the haves and have-nots, has plunged in popularity from a year ago, with one out of every two millennials (age 23-38) supporting it.

Meanwhile, 36% of millennials polled say that they approve of communism, which is up significantly from 28% in 2018.
if only young people really understood what capitalism is and not what their lefty teachers told them. It also isnt Trump.
Part of me wishes for one the human hating D candidates to win the upcoming election in order to give people a real painful dose of state run utopia.
But then again if the obvious and documented death toll of the abhorrent ideology doesn't turn them off, nothing will

I wish that all leftists of any age could spend some time in socialist countries. Don't visit; actually live there, working & paying taxes. Even the social democracies of Northern Europe, one is crushed under the weight of a huge government and collectivist society, where economic mobility is low, and where what we take for granted in the U.S. - a home, car, a little money in the bank - are total extravagances for a lucky few.

They may come back and realize that the "poor" in the U.S. have color TVs, automobiles, & air conditioning, and are so well-fed as to be obese...and that "poor" where it does exist (actually, "broke" is a better adjective), is more the result of unwise life choices, violating the law and/or unwillingness to maintain employment, versus a system pitted against them.

Where the system is truly pitted against you, i.e. your ability to maneuver in the economy, is precisely socialism.

Sure, the U.S. is grittier and more dangerous than sterile socialism, and carries risk of failure, but our economy is more dynamic with far greater opportunity. I think growing up here with all these blessings taken for granted, for these millennials they incorrectly believe that the grass is simply greener elsewhere.

Then what does capitalism propose to do with the problem of how it is that there are many homeless in the street and then there are billionaires who have more money and assets than they know what to with. Absolutely nothing? It should not be regarded as a problem in a capitalistic society?

Thats baloney though.

"home, car, a little money in the bank are total extravagances for the lucky few".

Car ownership and home ownership is completely normal in every developed country.

The poor have "color TVs" everywhere. Do you live in the 1950s?

Obesity? It is rampant all over the world, countries in Central America like Guatemala have big obesity problems, same with all Middle Eastern countries. Seems like you're stuck in the 1950s, when third world meant famine and obesity was reserved for a tiny section of people in the developed world.

Yeah, there are food surpluses in many socialist countries.

I think the mistake comes from misunderstanding empty shelves in Soviet Russia grocery stores.

The problem wasn't low crop yield or food production, but distribution. Every year the government would set a production quota based off of how much people eat on average.

People would then over-consume early on due to artificially low prices, so latter on the supply would be limited. Everyone had more than enough food to live, it was just supply problems.

That certainly shows problems with centralized management, but it doesn't offer evidence about why the food supply should be managed by private corporations who often take power away from the producers and overfeed society with high cholesterol foods.

The latter causes plenty of medical cost problems the private insurers pick up and exploit as demand does not fluctuate based on price that much in the medical market.

Reagan and others confuse people in what those empty shelves meant trying to picture it as a famine. People I know who lived in eastern Germany and rural hungry would grow their own food to compensate or go to 'international stores' which brought in products from outside the eastern bloc.
