Then-candidate Trump said often that the Iraq War was a mistake, and that we were in too many places for too long. Fast-forward to 2019, and the president is now moving forward to stop the “endless wars.” I stand with him.

To an extent, yes.

These warring nomad tribes have been killing each other since man first migrated into the Tigris and Euphrates region. They are not likely to stop anytime soon.

On the other hand, the world has become a much smaller place. Politics, marketing, manufacturing, food supplies and energy all operate on a global scale. The effect of some back water conflict can potentially court disaster in ways detrimental to US interests.

The hard part is trying to determine if these global interests are truly detrimental to the US or simply detrimental to some rich persons bank account. Putting American lives and resources on the chopping block so some fat cat can get fatter needs to stop.

The best part is he got his enemies to support the opposite.

(Except the lone sane one: Tulsi Gabbard)

I actually don’t even think he’s done anything but the opposite of what he promised as far as being non-interventionist. A shame, because that was the ONLY campaign promise that I had hoped he would keep.

The United States needs to pull troops out of the Middle East completely. We have no business being there. Arabs and Muslims do not particularly like Americans or western culture. That is not our turf. Let them solve their own problems.

Only get involved if they attack us or our allies directly. Otherwise, no involvement.

I agree .
I supported going after Saddam at first until I saw what it became, We should have destroyed his apparatus
and left .
That is the message that should have been left for whoever took his place .
Screw with us we will arrange for you to be ruling over a pile of rubble and dead bodies in short order and then we will be gone just as fast as we came .
That should be our policy with regards to these stone age despots .
We have the technology to destroy on a massive level without sending in one troop .

it is said one reason we had WW2 was everybody went home after WW1..no occupation led to WW2..I wish we all could stay home...the ME appears to be so backward they need a contingent of troops to keep the tribes apart and prevent a larger war

Hillary said "...a Democrat." Tulsi outed herself by jumping in on the defensive.

Now that we know, all we have to do is watch where she gets funding to be a third-party candidate.

We made a mistake of getting into Iraq the second time.
We made a mistake of getting into Afghanistan and staying there forever.
We made a mistake in getting into Syria.

Ans all we got in return is trillions of dollars wasted, lives of our soldiers and local civilians and countless injuries to them. Which they will suffer for decades.

Talking to the generals on and on will never lead to anything. We need to pull out and get out of there. Let them sort it out.

And for the warmongers here - there is nothing stopping you from eliciting yourself or your children to fight these endless wars. The average American is sick and tired of them. One day the kurds are our friends, the next day they are our enemies. They have gotten bolder and now want a piece of Iraq and Turkey to have their own independent country Kurdistan. Of course Turkey will allow that and neither will Iraq. So we are struck between supporting NATO ally Turkey and the kurds. And Turkey is not clean person either.

It is best we got out and let them sort out this mess.
