What is there to question the whistleblower about? His/her reports were all 2nd hand, or further removed. His/her credibility is irrelevant - there are multiple testimonies from first hand participants at this point.
I think it’s important to understand why classified information was being passed around the White House like water cooler talk by career govt employees. Why didn’t he direct any of these people with first hand knowledge to report it? Why didn’t any of the witnesses thus far report it? Why did the WB immediately run to Schiffs office for guidance, and not use his chain of command within his own agency? Just to name a few.....

They will question him under oath about how the whole thing was orchestrated by Schiff. If they don’t get to question him now, they will in the Senate trial.

Did Mr. Schiff orchestra the phone call? Did Schiff hold back the money Congress appropriated to Ukraine? Did Schiff tell the White House staff (Mulvaney, etc) to not testify (you know, the people that would most logically be able to defend Mr. Trump).
It is all fantasy. Even if there is a Senate trial, the trial will have to be restricted to the Articles of Impeachment. The thought that the Chief Justice would allow questioning of Schiff, the whistleblower, Hillary Clinton, Biden (young and old) is laughable.
If we sweep everything else out of the way, there is one very important reason NOT to expose the WB...…...they would be risking having their life, or their families lives, in danger. There are a lot of nutjobs out there, as we saw when Dr. Ford testified against Kavanaugh. She had to go underground because of death threats against her and her family, who didn't even have anything to do with it.
We have the WB protection statute because of that very reason. If we do not protect people who have some information to share, they will stay silent, out of fear. Do we really want to turn ourselves into the Mafia, where snitches are found floating in the East River ?

The Senate sets their own rules and after the partisan nonsense that is the house rules, you can bet Republicans will be looking to put their thumbs on the scale in the Senate.
I doubt Hillary would be called, but you can bet on Ciaramella and Hunter Biden. There's no scenario where they wouldn't be called. I think it's likely Joe Biden would be called as well.

Also, the fact that you've had so many partisans come forward with outright lies like Christine Blasey Ford is exactly why the propagandist leaker needs to be publicly cross examined under oath.
