Most Republicans would agree that there are no undesirable effects due to gerrymandering. That's why Republican state legislators are against the petition in Oklahoma that would try to get rid of gerrymandering by setting up an independent process.

The last US R senator, Gordon Smith, left office in 2009. The last R governor was Vic Atiyeh, who left office in 1987. Four out of Oregon's five US Representatives are Ds, and that's been the case since 1999. The last time Oregon voted for an R presidential candidate was 1984.
