The White House was locked down and fighter jets were mobilized after an airspace violation in Washington, D.C., Tuesday morning, according to law enforcement officials.
A small aircraft breached the national capital region airspace, two defense officials said.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) sent Coast Guard helicopters to escort the aircraft, the officials said. NORAD jets also responded.

The White House was locked down shortly before 9 a.m. That lockdown was lifted about 20 minutes later, NBC News reported. The North Lawn of the White House was cleared. The U.S. Secret Service said personnel at the White House were told to remain in place.
"The White House was locked down this morning due to a potential violation of the restricted airspace in the National Capital Region," a Secret Service spokesman said. "The lockdown has been lifted at this time."
The U.S. Capitol and its office buildings were evacuated as a precaution for about half an hour. Capitol Police sent a notification of a potential threat shortly after 8:30 a.m., and the evacuations were ordered. People were allowed back in after about 45 minutes.
Could have very well been a practice run to see if the air defense of the capital is up to par.
For more years than I can count, I have advocated for the sotu address to be carried on tv at the white house, as opposed to every government official gathering in one room on one night.
That could spell disaster if the capital building were somehow bombed on that night.
I cold never understand the need to place our entire government in one room , on one night.

I agree, although I am not sure that how much of a disaster it would be if most of the members of Congress and most of the Trump administration were removed from office. I think that the U.S. might be better off starting over with all new elected leaders. However, of course, it would be absolute chaos at first and might very well lead to things being even worse that they are now for most Americans.
So, NO, I am not actually wishing or hoping for something like a bomb to happen -- just for a very strong moderate party to emerge.
