The democrats are having a hearing today on what qualifies as an impeachable offense.
For historical prospective on impeachment, here's what Jerry Nadler said 20 years ago.
"Impeachment must have an overwhelmingly consensus by the American People. There must never be a narrowly voted impeachment, or an impeachment supported by only one of the political parties, and opposed by the other."

The problem is, there's absolutely NOTHING that Trump could do that would be considered impeachable by today's GOP as long as he continues to rubber stamp their extreme right-wing agenda. He could shoot somebody on live TV and probably not a single Republican would vote for impeachment.

bawacky, the topic is jerry nadler. what do you think of his statement 20 years ago regarding impeachment?

From Jan. 2011, thru Jan. 2016, there was more than enough evidence to present articles of impeachment to the Senate, when Republican held a majority in the House.

Well Bill Clinton unequivocally committed the crime of perjury, and the democrats refused to convict him.
Back on the current impeachment.
The current impeachment completely fails to the standard the democrats themselves set for impeachment.
Nadler stated that there should never be a one sided impeachment.
Nancy Pelosi said that the evidence must be overwhelming, and there must be bipartisan support for impeachment.
The democrats have completely failed to meet their own standards for impeachment, so why are they pushing this impeachment, less than one year before an election?

His point is the most relevant in the thread so far. The point you are trying to make is irrelevant because short of murdering a prostitute in the oval office, most of Trumps supporters think that having a Democrat in office is a far worse alternative to almost any action the President could take...even criminal.

They would probably even accept that as long as the prostitute was female.

This is the elephant in the room. When one party completely refuses to fulfill their constitutional obligations then his original line of thought is no longer applicable. Republicans want this to be a gotcha, but instead its just a statement on how lost they are as a party.
