Do we define extremes based on possibilities, or do we define it based on the realities of the world we currently live in ?

If its the former, the everyone is technically somewhere in the center with the exception of a few theoretical nut jobs.

If its the latter, then we can more clearly define things, but then we have to talk about how many people fall where and does something get redefined if a sizable portion of the population supports it.
This sounds like you are more interested in reality based problem solving, troubleshooting, solution providing & the like?

On the political compass chart, Hillary Clinton was placed in the same quadrant as your standard Republican.

Just slightly less authoritarian lol...

The authoritarian right quadrant is ridiculously full as per the chart for 2020 here:

Yep and why more left leaning Democrats don’t like her.

See this is where your argument breaks down. The KKK was founded by Democrats, and proliferated in Democratic regions. In the KKK's heyday, Democrats promoted eugenics (and many still do). Planned Parenthood was founded by a eugenicist. The health care left (you're not anti-science are you?):

Even today all of the black-face stuff and other racial mockery is committed by the likes of the current progressive leftist Canadian PM, as well as by the current progressive leftist governor of the Commonweath of Virginia. Nothing has changed.

It means you're under a form of mind control, and a very bad education.

I rarely repont to any posts that starts out "why do all leftists????" because I know without even looking that it's going to be something some extremists has done and that the poster is lumping them together with moderates life myself. I'm sure people on the right feel the same way.

So, you have to type a few more word - but be clear.

Don't say "leftists want communism" - say "some extreme leftists want communism". Be precise and accurate. Isn't that what you are all saying the media should be? But the thread titles here are wose than anythign the MSM could get away with. Take your own advice.
Shining example of leftist hypocrisy !!!
Naturally the left wants to decide what the right can say and they call it freedom of speech if they conform, comply and obey !!!

You say, "take your own advice", but you didn't !!! When you complain its only about what you don't like about what the right is saying with no concern or commentary about the BS the left puts out !!!
With most of the country divided down the middle the smallest number are in the middle !!!

Another left leaning liberal that wants to control the speech of others ? It would seem so !!!

Or you just missed the history lesson of how the parties effectively flipped...

Democrats also used to be the party of small government and mistrust of the feds.

Also both Democrats and Republicans were once simply the Democratic-Republican Party. Federalist party they opposed essentially went extinct. Then the Democratic-Republican Party split itself. Same roots, policies not all that different yet we have this nonsense.

Parties don't "effectively flip." Democrats project embarrassments onto the uninvolved; it's a dogeared rehabilitative playbook dating earlier than Nuremberg.

Eventually, a perceptive public catches on: "Hmm. No, Obama isn't a right winger, no matter what embarrassed Bernie bros say." "Hmm. No, Clinton isn't a right winger, no matter what chastened, bashful Justice Democrat adherents wish to promote." "Hmm. No, a German Socialist Workers Party wouldn't attract a conservative to a name with phrasing like that."....

That's a blatant untruth as well.

I am a Right leaning Moderate.

Everyone in Government should focus on their job and stop putting Party or self interests above nation.
