That is the quintessential question in this discussion as I stated in my post.
Do we define extremes based on possibilities, or do we define it based on the realities of the world we currently live in ?
If its the former, the everyone is technically somewhere in the center with the exception of a few theoretical nut jobs.
If its the latter, then we can more clearly define things, but then we have to talk about how many people fall where and does something get redefined if a sizable portion of the population supports it.
This sounds like you are more interested in reality based problem solving, troubleshooting, solution providing & the like?

There is a large spectrum of policial belief - from the extreme right to the extreme left. Most people fall somewhere close to the center. But nowdays everyone is lumped in togeter. I rarely repont to any posts that starts out "why do all leftists????" because I know without even looking that it's going to be something some extremists has done and that the poster is lumping them together with moderates life myself. I'm sure people on the right feel the same way.
So, you have to type a few more word - but be clear.
Don't say "leftists want communism" - say "some extreme leftists want communism". Be precise and accurate. Isn't that what you are all saying the media should be? But the thread titles here are wose than anythign the MSM could get away with. Take your own advice.

Also both Democrats and Republicans were once simply the Democratic-Republican Party. Federalist party they opposed essentially went extinct. Then the Democratic-Republican Party split itself. Same roots, policies not all that different yet we have this nonsense.
