So you can smoke weed in some states but the tobacco in that joint could be illegal if you are under 21.

That makes the law really clear.

This shows how states are cash strapped and outside funding dependent on maintaining their road and transportation system.
........

Yes, that is the way it works. Try driving through George Wallace's Alabama in the 70's to realize how it works.

Its all due to SAFETY!!!

Its amazing what the American people are willing to tolerate under the guise of 'protecting health and safety'.

The federal mandate on smokes is almost Obama-esque in it's concept and reach. It makes me wonder if Trump, once a New York Democrat, is starting to pivot back to his roots as he approaches a second term. For those of you who have not watched and listened to him over the years, he has a lot of leftist ideas in that old head of his. Maybe we will get a liberal either way in 2020.
Don't give Trump too much credit for this. He's never really been interested in public policy per se, only to the extent that it affects his bottom line and ability to stay out of legal trouble.

I've always believed if a person is old enough to die or be maimed in the service of our country in the military, that person is old enough to partake in adult vices.

Plenty of beer was supplied to allied forces before D-Day and Beer was not rationed in the UK during WW2 and neither was tobacco/cigarettes or indeed fish and chips.

Anyone old enough and brave enough to fight in a war is old enough to have a beer or a smoke if that's what they want.

Well, the tobacco industry is a LARGE industry, employees alot of people...seems strange Trump would be ok with suddenly cutting off a good percentage of their customers! (the 18-20 age range).

My grand aunt stopped smoking because she didn't want to be paying more taxes to Bill Clinton.
If I had known that Bill Clinton was getting the cigarette tax money I too would have quit. Who knew?

Trump is not a Republican, or a Democrat, in his ideaology..he's both...with heavy populist leanings. He's picking his battles carefully, and this one isn't one of them, and either was family leave.

He probably had to deal them both away to get military, or wall, $'s, or some other thing he wanted.

If 'Pubs retake the House, he can easily undo these things, and claim they didn't work, or some other excuse.
