The US violated international laws by assassinating General Qassem Soleimani. He had been called to Baghdad as a diplomatic envoy for discussions between US, Iran, and Iraq that were initiated by the US State Department. The US also gave the office of the Prime Minister of Iraq notice of the assassination attempt minutes before it occurred, which was not enough time to get out a response to deny permission in time. Pentagon is blaming Trump but he is apparently a fall guy for an operation that CIA, State, and the Pentagon wanted to carry out as they were aware of the circumstances behind the assassination attempt. Trump as an idiot and a easily manipulated personality is useful for the Deep State, much moreso than he would have been for Russia or any foreign power. I predicted after the election that he was to be maneuvered into decisions where he would be easily blamed for failures while the architects of the policies would remain faceless and the same policies would be continue on.
There's no threat from Iran. They talk a big game, but they are like a 5 year old pretending they want to fight the UFC heavyweight champ. It wouldn't even be a fight.
I think we celebrate finally getting out of Iraq as an accomplishment that the 2 previous presidents failed to achieve. The fact that we got to kill one of the top terrorist leaders in the world on the way out is one hell of a bonus.
The new general replacing the killed one needs to prove he is a worthy of the new position.
In the other hand, this is their dream come true, so maybe they'll just watch us leave and declare victory.
They want us far more than they want Iran and Russia!!!

My guess is that this is what is happening here. The Iraqi Parliament passed a "show vote" to support working towards getting all foreign troops out of their country. A worthy goal, for sure. Certainly everyone over here would agree with that being a desirable objective for the Iraqis. The Iranians however, may not agree.
So this letter suggesting we are ready to leave if we are not wanted in Iraq is likely for show also, to make sure that there is no credible reason for anyone to think that we are imposing our presence in Iraq.
To be fair, with these two top terrorists dead, that will hopefully mean our work is that much closer to being done. It would be great news if we could start the process of leaving Iraq in a responsible, sustainable way. But it would be remarkably stupid for us to leave, or for the Iraqis to truly want us to leave before they are truly ready to handle these responsibilities on their own. We tried that once unde Obama, and he had to order the troops to go back to deal with Islamic State. Sadly, it does not appear that the Iraqis are ready at this point yet, either.
Anyway, I suspect that this is just Trump posturing in a similar way to what their legislature did last weekend. If that is correct, then it will not actually result in us actually leaving Iraq. At least not yet.
It will be best for us to leave. Once Iran takes over, the country will devolve back into civil war between the Shia and Sunni as the Sunni resist Iranian influence. Iran will have its hands full.
Just this morning he wanted to be paid $ billions for our bases.

It is reported at least by Reuters and Israeli papers.
Iranian influence in Iraq will lead to civil war between the Sunni and Shia. This will not be pretty for Iran and it will have its hand full for decades to come on this one.
