The Leftist media would have done an exposé from some DoD intelligence report that this Soleimani character was plotting attacks on Americans and then the Left (including The Democrats in Congress, you know the usual characters like Pelosi, Nadler, Schumer, Schiff, etc.) would go on an outrage that Trump did not act to protect the country.

I basically rhetorically created this thread to show that either way, the Left would have attacked Trump. If he didn’t take out this general, the Left would have attacked him. If he did, like he has done, well they would attack him as well.

I am not sure I would even believe what comes out of the US gov anyway at this point. The WMD claims regarding Iraq has put a pretty bad taste in my mouth, and back then, that was declared credible evidence. Now we have the Afghanistan report that pretty much says the US gov has been BS'ing for the last 18 years regarding the status of Afghanistan, but I do not think anyone needed to see such report to know this, and ask the question "what have you (the US) actually been doing over there?"

Seems to me the US gov has a priority of ensuring continual conflict, spinning it to make it look virtuous and "in defense of the US".

The point I was making, and which you obviously missed, was that the fighting in Iraq was not over when Bush pulled that ridiculous stunt on the Abraham Lincoln. There was no "mission accomplished". And any "peacekeeping mission" was a long way off, long after it was obvious that the invasion and occupation of Iraq was a total disaster.

Trump lets terrorist general live and he is responsible for more America deaths, Trump is evil.
Trump kills said terrorist and some Islamic fanatics claim they will kill Americans, Trump is evil.

Needless to say Trump can do nothing right in their eyes, and they are so blinded by partisan hatred they do not even realize the guy we took out has been responsible for the deaths and maiming of hundreds of Americans and our allies.
More importantly, MANY terrorist attacks upon American and the west are perpetrated around the world on a regular basis by Iranian sponsored proxy groups.
To think this incident will start a war with Iran is absurd.
WHY?
Because we are already at war with them in their minds, and have been for decades. America, Israel and Western culture are the great satan in their minds, and they have vowed to kill us 10,000 times over.

But try to get that through their thick leftist ideological skulls and you will just be wasting your time.

Please explain.
We never paid anything. We gained nothing but trillion dollar deficits. The only winners were the private contractors hired by the government. Civilians and soldiers are the losers.

Most of these 'Fake news' reports are pretty easy to spot right from the start, as I demonstrated here in this incident at the beginning of this thread. For people who make a legitimate effort to be reasonably well informed about what is happening in these sorts of situations, they can look at a story like this one and evaluate whether it makes any sense or not.

In this case, it was really pretty simple. It did not make sense.

The situation here is, by the way, that virtually everyone in our country would like to see us get out of Iraq - as quickly and as soon as we can do that in a responsible and sustainable way. Likewise for the Iraqis. However, many in Iran see this as an opportunity to impose themselves on the Iraqis, with a longer term view of (re)building a Shiite caliphate, with the Iranians in charge. In order to facilitate this goal, they are pursuing an agenda of terror and disruption throughout the region.

These propaganda pushing hacks could have done their jobs in a diligent manner and asked the obvious questions about this themselves. Instead, they prematurely posted this 'Fake news' report, because they wanted it to be so. They sadly have conducted themselves in this unacceptable manner for years now, and in the process, have utterly destroyed the reputation of the mass media and the journalistic profession.

That is just not good enough, regardless of whether you or anyone else thinks otherwise. If they ever want to crawl out of this hole, the routine pattern and practice of publishing partisan agenda driven 'Fake news' must stop. Period.
The letter wasn’t invented by the media. It was prematurely/mistakenly sent by the United States military; the media just picked up on it before the government departments got their acts together To form a unified plan. (If possible)

They replaced him with a new general yesterday and the Iran is going from rebelling against their government to siding with it. Everytime we kill one bad guy or terrorist we create 3 more. Remember when attacking Alkaida was going to get rid of terrorism? Are you ignorant about history?

Yep.

What has been accomplished other than tilt the scales toward war? Well at least some of these wars in the Middle East are paying off, like our invasion of Iraq. Oh wait...

"Anti-government rallies continued in Iraq's capital in the aftermath of a separate day-long protest outside the United States embassy."

What proof do you have that this general was planning an attack against Americans? Can you show that it wasn't just made up to justify this killing, like the wmd in Iraq? And if there was a plan, what makes you think that anything has changed? He was replaced and their plans will continue as usual. Killing this general does not make Americans safer. If anything, we are in more danger than before the killing.
