If I were Iranian I'd be more worried about me, my friends, my family being bombed than some dusty cultural sites I would never visit, and only nursing-home retirees visit.

"some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture"
Some of the sites targeted are very high level sites that are important to Iran and to the Iranian culture. Where in that did he mention art galleries, mosques or the like? Are people having a knee jerk reaction to the word "culture"?
Q: What kinds of site is very high level and is important to the country and to the culture of the country?
A: Oilfields
The Iranian oilfields are very high level, they are important to Iran, and. they are important to the culture of Iranians. Much like it is in any oil producing country. Much like oil production in this country is important to the culture of the country and to the state it is produced in. Texas for example ....
"Oil has profoundly changed the culture of the state, and it continues to affect most Texans' lives in ways that may not be obvious to the casual observer."
Then I hope the Statue of Liberty and Mt. Rushmore are very secure from terrorist attacks for starters.
The prospect of what the US would do in retaliation prevents that kind of thing for the most part, but I don't fool myself into believing that cowardice would make those sites more secure.
Since when has the US cared about international law? Since when has any country aside a few, cared when the US violated it?
