The swamp may be able to Railroad a small time player, like Roger Stone, but that is not going to fly with a duly elected President.
Baloney. The truth is not being protected; lies are being protected. Trump has done everything he can to cover up the truth. He has obstructed every witness and document. He has lied nonstop about this so called "perfect phone call." Say whatever you want; it's a giant cover up. If it wasn't, Trump would not be doing everything he can to block everyone from speaking. If Trump isn't hiding anything, he or his witnesses would talk instead of complain about how unfair the process is.
Which has nothing to do with the charges against Trump, even if Biden had actually had the power to make that decision, and even if Biden had decided to do it solely for Hunter's benefit.
Both of which are demonstrably untrue.

This is 'circle the wagons' time for the Republican politicians, a purely defensive strategy. It is a sign of weakness to work so hard at keeping the facts from getting out.
This type of posturing is a tacit admission that they realize Trump is guilty of the charges. A purely partisan response to our common national crises.
What this means is: they know the more information is presented the weaker and more vulnerable they will each become. If the standard bearer goes down, they will all have a harder time staying in office in the coming cycle. They have made their Faustian bargains and (figuratively) it has become time to hand in their souls.

This 100%. Trump made herculean efforts to try to hide every single piece of relevant evidence from scrutiny. The "small government Conservatives" who demanded transparency and accountability for decades have flushed their credibility down the crapper by advocating that the Senate refuse to consider evidence made readily available to them after it was concealed from the House. The current GOP has proved to be a principle-free cult of personality.
If you want "truth", how do you ignore the huge amount of evidence that Trump really did try to play games with our election by using the Ukraines ? It is right there for any intelligent person who does want to see the facts and truth, all you have to do is open your eyes and your brain.

The Senate so called "trial" with possibly no witnesses is shaping up to be a total partisan sham designed to protect Trump. It is a complete circus show designed by McConnell and other hacks that could care less about the due process. The leaders of the senate should be ashamed of their dereliction of duty in conducting a real trial as was the intent of the US Constitution. History will not look kindly on them especially as most information comes to light as times goes on. Republican senators are willfully ignoring the pursuit of the truth.
