It's an expense of $50MM/year in hopes of recuperating some of the estimated $200MM/year in fare evasion, as well as policing the undesirable behavior.
The rioters also broke a number of ticket machines, spray painted, and otherwise vandalized the subway station, thus costing the MTA even more money. I don't understand how anyone can support these people.
Demands other than 'stop policing' are they want free fares. I guess why not, if we're doing free tuition, free housing, free healthcare, free money, etc.
The face of the modern left........lol. SO glad I got out.
I think it's the other way around, it's the left who left us just as Ronald Reagan who once said something like this: "I didn't left the Democrats, it's the Democrats who left me."

Reason: Little typo.
All the additional police resources should be directed at Wall St. That's where the real crime and money is.
Paying someone 42k a year (starting NYC transit police salary) to write 85$ tickets makes no sense.
I don’t know if you are being obtuse or … dumb, but I will bite.
What is NYC transit police(their job is mostly to deal with blue collar crimes and provide security for transit system) has anything to do with a white collar crimes at Wall St? That job belongs to DOJ/FBI
What with all the wannabe electeds proposing free $$$ for this that and the other thing, no wonder the subway riders feel they should get free transportation
What a bunch of stinking losers the America hating left is.
Agree.....but sadly
It’s truly embarrassing to actually admit you are a democrat these days.....
Two of my democrat friends now say they are “independents” so not to be embarrassed by what’s been happening with their party.
