socialism or communism are academic arguments.

Reality is both restrict freedoms, control every aspect of life, intolerant to opposition, create an elite political class and make everyone else equal. The government them claims you didn't build your business, so you must share profits through high taxation.

The socialist dems are scaring everyone, not the GOP.

Evidence of socialist bureaucrats was the Schiff one sided trial, having the USAG falsify warrants and judge shop to spy on opposing journalists. Frightening to have a rogue IRS office in Cincinnati suppress the conservative vote.

Bernie supporters are in love with Bernie's promise of paradise. A paradise that someone will have to pay for, and anyone with 1 grey cell in their skull knows, it won't be paid for by the rich, because the rich are our elected reps who make the laws. It will be the middle class that foots the bill.

I am surrounded by ex-pats from Sweden, Norway and Finland. If those countries are the promised land the left claims why do they produce so many ex-pats?
So didn't Trump sign off on yet more debt?

People didn't have a problem voting for a president to run the country who declared business bankruptcy several times.

Seems to be an automatic response any time socialism results in poverty, or huge governments, or even destruction of an entire country that tried it.

Since that's what socialism usually does, they're saying it a lot nowadays.
So Venezuela failed because workers ran the means of production in that country?

Sander's Democratic Socialism does not eliminate capitalism. It put controls on it so that the actual people in a society are supported and served, not just the corporations and oligarchs. This scare tactic comes across as name calling and fear mongering, not as intelligent discussion. But that is trumpism. I guess we will see how that works.
The kind of socialism Trump and Republicans stand for is known as corporate socialism.

Their government took most of the money from its citizens.

The politicians live high on the hog while the citizens starve in the streets.

Sure, if you love giving more of your paycheck to the government to fund dead beats.

This!!! A million times over.

Anyone who thinks Bernie isn’t a socialist hasn’t been listening to anything he’s been saying...

https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/...ialist/515766/

Republicans have a long, disreputable history of conflating any attempt to improve American lives with the evils of "socialism." When Medicare was first proposed, Ronald Reagan called it "socialized medicine," and he declared that it would destroy our freedom. These days, if you call for something like universal child care, conservatives accuse you of wanting to turn America into the Soviet Union. It's a smarmy, dishonest political strategy, but it's hard to deny that it has sometimes been effective.
Strange how the terms still fit.
