That means less than 1% of America's billionaires are black (while the general population is 13% black) and 60% of black billionaires is via sports and or entertainment.

In 1992, the median net worth of white families was $100,000 above that of black families, according to McKinsey. By 2016, the median white family was $152,000 wealthier than its black counterpart. During that period, the median wealth of white families grew over $50,000, McKinsey reports, but the median wealth of black families did not grow at all in real terms.

Any candidates talking about this? Blacks unemployment may be near record lows......but blacks don't seem to have much wealth....not surprising given how important home value is to ones wealth.

I don’t think it matters if the money is coming from sports ore entertainments the issue is the money isn’t there en masse and no m-no candidates will talk about issues like that-maybe Bernie once/if elected

It matters to me. Blacks are going to continue to gravitate to avenues where they see people like them having success.....but those avenues are very constricted. Only a small percentage of people can become professional sports stars or entertainers, relative to the potential that could become rich via the array of different avenues that lead to the other 607 billionaires success.

Well then, aren't you lucky. If Comrade Bernie gets elected all will be even....we'll all be poor.

Socialism is not communism. Comrade is a term that connotates communism.

Isn't this kind of information part of Bernie's cornerstone of policy.

Maybe....but what are we hearing from the other side? What does the right have to offer to help improve these numbers? They are seeking the black vote....right?

Wow this is great news! Black Americans should use these success stories as a source of inspiration. All Americans should.

Yeah....Young black boys should want to be like Jay Z and Michael Jordan. So you get all these young black males thinking rapping or playing basketball as a viable career goal. What is the opportunity cost associated with such pipe dreams?
