After reading all of these interpretations of the Second Amendment, I feel like my taxes to support public education is a waste of money.
My original intent from the topic was, how does a militia of many militias that are just untrained people, get on the same page if they ever needed to join forces or be immediate help to the military and battle an enemy together at the drop of the hat(immediately).
Would they all be versed in domestic tactical warfare, or would there be total chaos, confusion, bickering, and not well regulated as constitutionally mandated?
We are all technically "The Militia", but are we "Well Regulated" to take on a much stronger force, than your PO'd neighbor, on the warpath???????????

What the Founding Fathers referred to as the "militia," is now the National Guard. We are not all technically "The Militia." Times have changed, we no longer have Indian uprisings.

Totally false. The National Guard is part of GOVERNMENT. The Unorganized Militia is not. Right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms. It doesn't say right of the government. You need to get an education on the Constitution which upholds our natural rights. It doesn't grant us rights. It puts restrictions on Government to not trample our rights.
Sounds like a mandate for the draft.
Well regulated = Well trained and working.
Just like a well regulated clock is never wrong.
There is a principle in law that when interpreting law, one needs to find the "legislative intent" behind that law. Primarily, it is found in the text of the law, but when things are not clear-cut, then one can consult the discussions, minutes, publications etc., that the legislators made while promulgating said law.
On the RKBA, the record is clear.
It was intended to be an INDIVIDUAL right, NOT a power of government. If it WAS intended to be a power or authority of government, it would have NEVER been inserted into the Bill or Fights, a document whose sole purpose was to itemize and preserve rights of "the PEOPLE".

While doing genealogy, I read through the 1793 militia index for NJ. It was broken up by municipalities. I don't know if it was different in different states and commonwealths. It was not voluntary. It was mandatory, but Quakers could opt out for payment of an annual fee.
There are mentions of colonial militias in Revolutionary War pension files.

In fact, every American is Militia. Some volunteer their adult lifetimes or a portion and some are called into duty at a moments notice. According to the latest Militia legislation that better defined the militia from the standing military or the National Guard.... The Dick Act
Quote:
THE MILITIA ACT OF 1903. 279
The first section reiterates the law of 1793, that the militia shall consist of every able-bodied citizen and recognizes the militia as the unorganized or reserve militia.
The fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh sections give the President authority, in ease of invasion by a foreign power, rebellion, or when the laws of the Union cannot be executed with the other forces at his command, to call out " the militia " in such numbers as may be necessary.* He may specify the period of service, not exceeding nine months ; and any officer or enlisted man who fails to present himself to the United States mustering officer, when so called out, may be court-martialled.
