Our taxes are among the highest in the nation, but we still have gas available today at $2.83, as long as it's under $3 I'm happy (36 gallon tank).

The two major differences in gas prices around the country will be:

1) State gas taxes or related laws in some locations like the CA blend.
2) The cost of the land the gas station sits on.

About $3.45 here in the potholed commie republic of Kaleefornia.......where the libs tax us into oblivion......if gas drops another dollar I can fill the tank and get my AMC Rambler across the state line...........
