But on the positive side, we're not doing nothing, there has been this week a public information campaign by the CDC and NIH* on important things that individuals can do, like hand washing and social distancing, and, many large gatherings are being cancelled, people are working from home - this is precisely why our public health experts are driving that, is so that the geometric growth in cases is broken, and things sloooow down. I hope after another week or two, that it will no longer be geometric.

*It didn't start this week, but by this week, I think most people are really paying attention.
I agree with this.

I think we will get through this.

I know I might be the minority in this, lol, I never think we should test as many people as possible. Test with no follow up plan = useless.

I think we should all practice social distancing.

I am happy to report a somewhat encouraging news: one of my friends works at a warehouse, he's the typical blue collar worker. He said his boss asked every worker in the warehouse to wear face mask and gloves. Hand sanitizer everywhere. If you are sick, they send you home and your pay is covered. People are paying attention.

The steps taken by the Adminstration are unprecedented, very robust and effective. If you don't think so look at Italy.

Chances are we won't have to look at Italy. We've got such a late start on this, we'll likely be Italy in a few weeks. America is younger overall than Italy and apparently less people smoke here than there, so that may help us. But the president -- no matter who that is at any time -- can't just magically press conference a serious problem away

I watched the news conference. All I heard is they are going to try to get testing up to where other countries already are. Not unprecedented, robust and effective? Let us wait and see.

Regarding Italy:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...us-swept-italy

After detecting three cases, including two Chinese tourists at the end of January, patients were isolated in a hospital in Rome. Contacts were traced, and the country became one of the world’s first to cut transport links with China.
The sense of confidence was palpable. “The system of prevention put into place by Italy is the most rigorous in Europe,” the prime minister, Giuseppe Conte, boasted on 31 January.

Sound familiar? Tell me what we have done that is much different than what Italy did? Actually Italy banned all air traffic from China on January 30th. Trump did the same February 1st.

And this says we are following the same trajectory as Iran and Italy.
