What is the purpose of bailing out big businesses over the average citizens, if the average citizens will not be able to afford to use the services of the Big Businesses, e.g., airlines, cruise industry, lodging and the hospitality industry?

It seems we may have a repeat of bailing out the Big Guys and forgetting about the little guys.

I can say I'm an ardent Trump supporter. BUT, if he bails out Big Business before and instead of us average folks, he will absolutely lose my support.

Can anyone shed light on why it a good and reasonable plan to help Big Business over the average Jane and Joe?

Jim Cramer says Boeing will go under without a bailout. Boeing should have thought about that when it used 96% of it's money to buy back its own stock. They should be made to sell that stock if they need money.

I agree that the bailout should be directly to the workers, but subset of workers (e.g. not white collar employees working remotely), followed by small business owners, and some larger businesses.

Somewhat last on the list would be relief for the airlines, and hotels if necessary, and absolute no relief or bailout for the cruise industry. Just let that die off already.

I keep mulling this all over in my head. Whoever we bail out, it's only going to buy time and amass more debt. If the virus situation doesn't improve the money will be spent and we'll be back in the same spot again soon. I don't have an answer, except that if we get a few more weeks down the road and the virus continues to spread, we may have to simply freeze all monetary transactions and go to straight up rationing.

I agree, the 2008 bailouts made me sick and I don't want to see it again.

Because CEOs are too irresponsible to put money aside in the good years to carry them through the bad years.

I agree with you 100%.

I'll add, the people who are doing most of the ground work to mitigate the damage and spread of Covid-19 is the little guy, not Big Business.

Trump may lose over his apparent insistence to bail out his Big Business friends. I think he may do it at the loss of his presidency, and should.

BINGO!!!!

I agree 100% with you. Although, I'll add. Small businesses (the REAL small businesses) are suffering and many are the mom-pop type that need help just as much as the workers they don't want to lay off but have too.

Companies are funded through loans by the federal reserve . Thats how they operate... Ever notice companies like UBER operating at losses?

How do you assume that works? They operate off money from the banks.

All profits are owed to the SHAREHOLDERS (owners) of the company. The business cannot hoard the cash or have it locked in the basement like in the first "Die Hard" movie.
