The Washington Post reported the group Pacronym is planning to spend $5 million on ads attacking Trump’s response to the pandemic. Pacronym, whose board of directors includes former Barack Obama campaign manager David Plouffe, said its ads will target key 2020 swing states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Arizona.

Opinion:
Just watched Mayor DeBlasio bash President Donald Trump on national television for not sending Federal Relief.
He has consistently used the podium of News 1 Corona Update to the people of the city to point to President Donald
Trump as the impediment to the slow progress in New York City.

I have posted my opinion on the economy of New York over two years ago.
The Mayor had made poor investments in N.Y.C.
He chose to give away free cheese than to create jobs for the poor.
Their is no return on free cheese.............

The mayor is using the pandemic to bail the city out and cover his economic failures.
He is asking for billions of recovery monies to keep the city infrastructure from collapse
all while trashing The President and Bill in his own words is wondering why the President
is not responding.............

What goes around comes around Bill............................never bite the hand that feeds.............isn't that right?

We should hold Trump's feet to the fire because he has made mistakes that have already resulted in the death of Americans. The most egregious is that his administration turned down a perfectly good test for COVID-19 from the World Health Organization.

Warning fellow Americans of a dangerous leader is what a responsible political party and concerned American citizens should do. As for politicizing a virus, that despicable action falls directly at the feet of Trump. Pushing back against Trump is justified. Speaking Truth to Power.

Mr. Trump, and some Republicans, in January and February failed their obligations to lead and to focus on a very real public health issue, and instead went on a rampage to discredit Democrats and the free press for reporting on the looming COVID19 crisis. You absolutely cannot deny that, OP.

Trump said, "news outlets like CNN were doing everything they can to instill fear in people,” and "Democrats were trying to gain political favor by saying a lot of untruths about the virus".

His acting White House chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, went even further, telling conservative activists that journalists and Democrats were hyping the coronavirus because “they think this will bring down the president; that’s what this is all about.” This as Democratic leaders and credible media outlets were trying to warn Americans of a probable domestic outbreak.

At a campaign rally in South Carolina, on February 3, the president, shockingly denounced Democrats, describing the concerns they expressed about the virus as “their new hoax”.

These accusations, and more, came as the Trump denigrated "Deep State" moved to head off infections like those in China. The State Department urged Americans to reconsider traveling to Italy, where the virus had spread, and health officials reported three more cases of unknown origin, in California, Oregon and Washington State, raising fears of local transmission. The World Health Organization reported cases in 56 countries and warned of a “very high” global risk. And yet Trump persisted in downplaying, aka lying, and continued to blame the Democrats and the liberal press.

While other presidents in moments like this have tried to transcend politics and assert national leadership, Trump, for crucial months, framed the issue in partisan terms while playing down the risk to the United States. He was consumed by concern for his re-election. Don't try to tell us otherwise.

Once again, Trump placed personal political interest over the country. Put the nation's health at risk. This time, literally. Now he's psychologically projecting and politically deflecting, as are his flock, whose apparent only interest is to keep this inept and dangerous man in office.

So if the Democrats use political ads in the upcoming election as a way to inform the public about Phony President Pinocchio and the jeopardy in which he places ALL of us, then I say, Thank Goodness for Speaking Truth to Power.

BTW: It is not the Wuhan Flu. That is Trump's term for weaponizing a virus, dear. It is called COVID19. I hope the so called "dark money" you fear will expose that despicable tactic of Trump and Company as well.

How do you figure? Did he refuse to ban travel from infected countries? Did he wait 6 months to declare a national emergency? Did he wait until 1000 Americans had died before doing ANYTHING? Oh wait...that was Obama-and perfectly acceptable!!! How silly of me.

Actually Toyman, you are incorrect and have been lied to by the Trump spin doctors.

Trump & Flock have been trying to deflect by lying about the Obama administration’s response to the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, untruthfully declaring “ it was a full scale disaster.” While you and he can have that opinion, there is little to support such a negative view.

The stats oft repeated by Trump are deliberately misleading and it is disingenuous to compare those figures to the current outbreak of COVID-19, which has just begun. It’s also not true that the Obama administration did nothing or waited a long time to act on the H1N1 influenza pandemic.

Quote:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there were about 60.8 million cases of infection with the novel type of influenza virus in the U.S. between April 2009 and April 2010, with a total of approximately 274,304 hospitalizations and 12,469 deaths. While that death toll may sound high, it’s over an entire year and, in fact, ended up being far lower than was initially expected. The strain of influenza also turned out to have a case fatality rate of just 0.02% — well below even many typical seasonal influenzas.

Everything that’s known about the new coronavirus so far suggests that it’s an entirely different beast than its most recent pandemic predecessor. Peter Jay Hotez, a professor and dean of the tropical medicine school at Baylor College of Medicine, says the new virus, which is is known as SARS-CoV-2, ( which causes COVID19) is considerably more transmissible and more lethal than H1N1. For those reasons, he said, “the urgency to contain this coronavirus is so much greater than the H1N1 2009 one was.”
Quote:
Contrary to Trump’s suggestion that the Obama administration did “nothing,” officials declared a public health emergency early in the H1N1 outbreak, secured funding from Congress and ultimately declared a national emergency.

On top of that, the CDC sequenced the new virus, created testing kits, and the Food and Drug Administration approved multiple vaccines, among other actions.

Rep. Michael Burgess, a Republican from Texas, praised the CDC at a House hearing in 2016 for quickly developing a vaccine for the swine flu in about six months — in time for the start of the school year in September 2009. “So that’s a 6-month time frame if I’m doing my math correctly that you were able to identify the genetic sequence of the virus, reverse engineer a vaccine, test it, assure its safety and efficacy, and get it to school teachers on the second week of school. That’s pretty impressive,” he said.

I just will never understand why Trump and his enablers and posters such as you, toyman, are far more concerned about Trump's perceived performance and making disingenuous comparisons to Obama, than seriously caring about any ongoing current issue. You know, the current public health crisis truly demands attention, rather than comparison and what aboutisms, toyman. Shame on you. You and Trump would be wise to take Harry Truman's advice:

"It's amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit."

And as for the complaint which is the topic of this thread, perhaps Trump should listen to another of Truman's sayings, "'If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen"

·The WHO never offered to sell test kits to the United States.

·The CDC opted to develop its own coronavirus test and did not use the WHO’s protocol for the test.

·Other developed countries with advanced research capabilities developed their own tests.

Biden’s emphasis on WHO offering kits is simply wrong. We rate this claim Mostly False.

First off, that is a Winston Churchill quote which is important to note because it transcends party, country or era.

Second, of course they're going to politicize this. I said this yesterday in a post where I pointed out that some pols (Omar saying something positive about Trump) have to play nice because their district is shaky and people mostly don't want to see infighting....so the political attacks have to come from proxy loyalists like journalists and PAC's as well as the pols that are completely safe in their districts or not seek re-election etc.

This is Politics 101. I don't like it but it's completely party neutral imo. This would be occurring no matter whom was president.

The WHO is infected with hate America liberals !!! Very much similar to the UN !!! One look at who is in charge of the WHO is all it takes to lose confidence in that organization !!!
They bought into China's misinformation on the pandemic at the start and push it out to the rest of the world !!! Its a leftist political organization as evident by the link below !!!
I suppose you want to blame that on Trump too !!!

So how did WHO manage to scrounge up the resources to develop, deliver, and train 60000 test kits to healthcare-weak countries before America was able to do the same for its own citizens?
