Add Idaho to the shut-down states. Governor just made the declaration an hour or so ago. 91 cases in a state with something like 1.8 million people.... Shut down the entire state over that?

It is. Our company was declared "essential". Fortunately we have plenty of work in our backlog to last us for a couple months. Zero deaths here in Idaho, and no one at our local medical center with it.

I see where the governor of Mississippi overruled the mayor of Tupelo about shutting down restaurants and other businesses, not to smart.

You would seriously doubt incorrectly. Of course, we weren't talking about an over reaching government abusing power and forcing people to shut their own livelihoods down, we were talking about when shtf, and people, overall, not just a small percentage, but the majority, weren't doing well, economically for whatever reason that was.

Don't assume anything about people's behavior during a shtf moment except that their behavior will surprise you, in more ways than one.

Think outside of what you deem "acceptable", because what you deem acceptable, doesn't mean others think the same way.

Again, stop complaining, and go buy some. If this goes on for a long time (which I don't think it will, but who knows, some people in government would enjoy having this type of control over people), you'll be wishing you had gone when they were open and got some to use for bartering.

I really don't think we'll get to that level. The point is, however, you not thinking it's "essential" doesn't matter.

Default Should NYC be sealed off because of the Chinese Virus?

This is like art coming to life in a different way, just watched the movie 21 Bridges where the police block off Manhattan as they go on a manhunt for two killers, also remember that in the Dark Knight Rises, that version of Gotham City is clearly New York and its cut off by the authorities. The same thing happens in the Gotham TV show though in the latter two cases the bridges are actually blown up not just blocked.

Should something like this be done because of the Chinese virus and the risk of people leaving the city and spreading it everywhere? Many cases in other cities and states are due to people leaving New York and bringing it with them. Florida now has a 14 day quarantine orders for anyone leaving New York and New Jersey.

NYC wouldn't be hard to seal off from a logistical standpoint, they can just block all the bridges and tunnels leading west, Long Island can be part of the quarantine zone, so even less than 21 bridges and tunnels to block off, also close the airports and stop running the ferries.

No, not for Covid-19 as that would be a violation of freedom of association and freedom of movement.

I don't know what the "Chinese Virus" is.

So, no food in, no materials in or out for the factories and shops, no jobs for those working in Jehsey or Connecticut etc.?

You're right, after a few weeks of that, all problems in NYC would be over.
