The audacity of a man worth $114 billion dollars asking the general public to contribute to a relief fund for contract workers. Bad enough that they hardly ever pay any taxes, and had a comparatively terrible coronavirus policy as compared to many other corporations. Despite what the Amazon spokesperson says, they DID ask for public donation via a text, the fact that they tweeked the wording after being called out doesn't change that fact. Absolutely shameless.
Now don't get me wrong, I like Amazon and it's a great service, but they keep pulling stupid stunts like these. No doubt someone will defend this practice, but their opinion.
But asking for public donations has still caught some backlash online.
"How is your company worth over a TRILLION dollars and you want the public to donate to an employee relief fund?! As if Amazon can't pay their employees themselves," one frustrated consumer wrote on Twitter.
Amazon is worth $1tn, and Mr Bezos is worth an estimated $114bn. In 2018, the company reported an income of $11bn but paid $0 into federal taxes.
Their lobbyist were trying to get money from the stimulus bill too when they are one of the companies least impacted.
Eventually this might all catch up with them.
Disgusting! If Jeff Bezos is worth an estimated $114billion, would it be that hard for him to fund the entire relief fund himself? Apparently so.

Uh, no. That would be Republicans in Congress with their love of corporations and their tax relief for the rich, Mitch McConnell being one of the worst. And yes, I'm aware that some Democrats have done the same too, but it's mostly a Republican thing.
Fury as world's richest man Jeff Bezos asks public to donate to Amazon relief fund
This is just billionaires being billionaires, they take what they can get. Trump is no different. In fact Bezos is much more honest ... ironically. (You can at least rest assured that any donation will be used for the purposes it is intended).
That's why we are done with billionaires buying control of our government, the people are truly sick of it.
