The man has had the lowest rating ever of any president. He has been critisized and scrutinized incessantly. He was most likely a factor in McCain's bid for the Whitehouse but was the past eight years really that bad?

I never could find a decent job in my area of study after graduating in 2000 and getting laid off from the dotcom bust and had to settle for an hourly job but I never blamed Bush. 9-11 was bad but I don't think any other president has had to deal with anything as intense as what happened that day. Iraq was decided on a lot of misinformation but we got rid of a dictator and liberated a country. Stocks (though plummeting now) reached the highest point ever during his presidency (yes, and biggest drop, too, but I'm talking about the past 8 years as a whole and not just what's happened this past month). Taxes were low and I was happy with my refund checks from Uncle Sam.

I'm sure with every positive there is a negative and I'm also certain someone's going to bash my opinion for even defending Bush but do you really think that the last 8 years has been so bad that he deserves the lowest rating of any president?

Please elaborate.

How has his presidency affected you personally that you think the past 8 years was that bad?

Gratefully, we lived overseas during most of the Bush reign which dulled the agony of his administration.

But I can tell you for sure, the damage he did to foreign policy and the laughing stock he made of the US in the eyes of foreigners, will take a lot of effort and a long time to fix.

We live in the global village now right? Well Bush turned America into the trailer trash of the neighborhood.

Americans have just pinned the blame on Bush and the Republicans for what the Democrats have done.

The "mortgage/banking meltdown" is the doing of the Democrats, for it is they who created the CRA, and it is they who have been in charge of and running Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

All those responsible for our current crisis are left in power; how stupid are we?

We will now see just how bad things can get. Jobs will be lost as companies downsize and lay people off (as predicted, and as CEO's have said they will) because of the expectation of confiscatory taxation. Many will take their business overseas.

We have returned to the era of Jimmy Carter. Obama's "change" theme is not to something new; it is to something old, which was a complete and total failure.

I'm very sad for America. We have elected, for the fist time in our history, a Marxist/Socialist. Freedom and democracy is dead. America as we have known it is history.

I agree with azoria - I have neighbors from India & China. They confirmed what I already guessed - the main question is : How could Americans vote for him a second time??????? He had already managed to make our entire country look like bumbling fools the 1st term. Then he was voted in again. Let's review the definition of insanity: Keep performing the same activity (in this case voting), expecting a different outcome. This is where the party idea fails. Far too many people vote for a party and not a candidate. If Hitler showed up and claimed to be a Rep., I'm sure he would get lots of votes. Very sad.

And also if he showed up and claimed to be a Democrat, which just happened.

I did not vote for Bush, but I think that after a few years of Obama, people will long for the "good old days" of a Bush presidency.

If you are a *****, you won't like Bush. If you have half a brain, you will understand Bush did what was necessary.
