Yes, seems to be a global trend.
Basically, one would have to test the entire population, but that will take time and once you are finished, some people's immunity might already be fading away.
Since the virus is just a few months old, we don't know yet if immunity is time-limited or forever.
Plus, there is the problem of variants of the virus resulting from mutations.

Default 1 in 3

If you have a confirmed case of Covid-19, chances are about 1 in 3 that you are in the USA. We are less than 5% of the world's population.

Dump Trump.

Yes, it's true that the raw numbers can be misleading. One way to correct for this is to count the number of deaths per million population instead of just throwing the raw number of deaths out there.

When counted as deaths per million population, the number for the US comes in at 62/million (for now). That doesn't seem anywhere near as daunting as the raw number of 200,000+ and counting. However 62 deaths per million places the US at 16th place among the world's nations for fatalities per million. Among others, Switzerland, France and the UK are doing even worse than we are.

Even so, when compiling the list of countries by deaths per million, one hundred and ninety four (194) nations have better scores than we do. Places like Portugal and Australia and Germany and Japan are doing better, so this number is not only just some artifact that comes from counting tiny countries like Singapore.

The larger countries that have done better than us include Germany and Australia. So far, Australia has conducted at least twice as many CV tests as we have. Perhaps we should emulate Australia.

This thing is surely coming back at us next winter. Does anyone really want to let the Trump administration have another bite at the apple?

And New York has more cases than any country on Earth, except of course, the country they are located in, the USA. New York, as of two days ago, had 44% of all the USA’s cases. It is probably higher now.

Dump Cuomo and DeBlassio.

United States is about 33 times bigger than Italy. Five times more people.

Not at all. The US is very large country geographically and has the population numbers to match. It's really not all that surprising that the number of deaths here now come in well in excess of 200,000.

As I mentioned in a different thread, the way to compensate for this is to measure the number of deaths per million in population. When you do this, the USA comes in at 62 per million (this number continues to climb). That sounds much better, but even then the US is 16th from the top when it comes to nations with the most deaths per million. Not good. Not good at all.
