That's a future liability not something they have to pay out this week

Well, once they receive a thank you card from California for defending the Union, which unfortunately includes California.

I’m sure there are more men and women from Kentucky and West Virginia serving in the military than California now ponies up for the “collective defense” of the country.

Btw, all those military bases around California are mainly filled with Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen that mainly come from Red States.

" Fifth largest economy in the world?"

"California has the fifth-highest debt of any state with total liabilities coming out to $287.79 billion.
giving California a debt ratio of 107.9%. California’s debt and liabilities can be broken down into three categories: retirement liabilities, budgetary borrowing, and bond debt. Combining California’s federal, state, and local debt, however, brings California’s debt total to over $1 trillion. According to this report, the debt would cost each resident of California $33,000 or each taxpayer $74,000."

" Then they will come running with their hands out", they already have. Look back when they have those huge fires, landslides, etc., and they beg the FED come in to hel.

"Newsom said in a letter sent to Trump on Wednesday requesting the deployment of the U.S. Navy’s Mercy hospital ship to the Port of Los Angeles through Sept. 1.In a separate letter sent to the leaders of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, Newsom said the financial aid is crucial to the state’s ability to procure ventilators and other medical supplies, activate state-run hospitals, deploy mobile hospitals and meet other healthcare needs."

" as Newsom offered a grim projection about the toll the novel coronavirus might take on California. He asked Congress on Thursday for $1 billion in federal funds to support the state’s medical response to COVID-19,"

You missed his point. Yes, CA has a lot of bases, which means they GET a lot of federal funding. The people who join the military are more likely to be from "flyover country." The soy-boys from Silicon Valley aren't enlisting.

Ok, let's look at that. Here is a report on military engagement, i.e.states sending the most young people into the military. the states are adjusted for population with #1 having the highest proportionate military enlistment rate. All 50 states are included in the link but for the purpose of this thread I will stick with the 3 states that have been under discussion.

Quote:
#32 West Virginia participation rate 0.93
#29 Kentucky participation rate 0.93
#28 California participation rate 0.96

https://thestacker.com/stories/1456/...le-military#52
As you can see, participation is very similar in those three states, it appears that "the soy boys" (which is a disgusting racist term BTW) participate at a slightly greater rate than the "red state patriots" in Kentucky and W Virginia.

Anything else you would like me to research for you?

If it’s a nation state, why did Newsom ask for federal help with the hospital ship?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.san...es%3f_amp=true

Newsom did good initially, but he’s still a blathering idiot.

Sigh...no one is going to attack the US from the west.

A landing craft carries about 110 troops. They take 2 months to build. They are brown-water, meaning they cannot sail the open seas. They are carried inside a larger vessel, which takes 4 months to build. Then you need landing craft for tanks, personnel carriers/fighting vehicles, artillery and engineer vehicles, and the cargo ships for trucks and smaller vehicles.

China has 8 shipyards.

It would take China 568 years just to build the landing craft.

It would take China 5,208 years to build the other vessels.

So...can we dispense with the stupidity already?
