Sad, but as with other similar type incidents, there were definitely underlying issues long before this pandemic hit.

What a society we live in, where 15 year-olds and even younger people are killing themselves regardless of situation.

A 15 year-old girl hanged herself after struggling to cope with the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, her mother believes. Jo’Vianni Smith was found dead at her home in Stockton, California. She did not leave any note, and her mother Danielle Hunt says she had no idea of her late daughter’s mental anguish.

Two students at another school district close to Jo’Vianni’s have died by suicide in recent weeks, as experts warn social distancing rules barring people from going out or seeing friends and loved ones is having a detrimental effect on many people’s mental health.

Sadly yes, we will see this.

Isolation usually worsens depression, so for people with existing issues more will likely kill themselves.

Tragic . I have a couple of teenagers, and it has been rough on them being home for the past month. But they FaceTime, hang out on Xbox, make TicTocs... heck, taking social-distance bike rides together.

Kids don't just hang themselves just for being at home a long time.

But yes, it is easy to blame the stay at home rules.

So does that count as a COVID-19 death?

And will people with preexisting conditions of depression be allowed to go out and be with others since it would seem 'essential?'

Musing!

I guess kids don't get grounded any more.

Depression sucks. Parents need to be aware - Not that parenting cures depression - no - but NOTICING the depression is key to getting help.

And the TV in her room was tuned to CNN....

Is there blood on the medias hands?

They should really stop scaring people to death while trying to trash Trump and instead start reporting the positives such as instead of reporting the death toll they should also report how many people have survived.

The world can be a hopeless place when someone feels trapped with no options.

Similar to a story of a young woman in the UK who committed suicide due to the CV lockdown as well...

I suspect that child was abused in her home.
