Many reasons why NY failed, NYC was slow to respond. But how many high density cities do you have in Florida, how many miles of subways, airports an other mass transit concentrated in a one area. Plenty of elderly and at risk citizens in the metropolitan area. Just claiming that Florida has a lower infection rate due to DeSantis is silly, he didn't even issue a stay at home order until this month and ignored requests for a uniform policy. He was put into office by Trump and doesn't have fortitude to put safety ahead of politics.
Answer me this, why did DeSantis ignore his own health care experts and the requests of his mayors for a uniform policy.

The response was left up to local mayors who were begging DeSantis to have a unified policy but he didn't have enough courage until 2 weeks ago to issue an order. Universal and Disney shutdown but he couldn't tell millennials on spring break to get off the beach. He put the burden of the tough decisions on local officials .
I'm not against Floridians. just against governors like DeSantis who put business ahead of safety in spite of the recommendations of his own health care experts. Be careful how you toss around the work ignorant because that is exactly the case when it comes to DeSantis.

Cuomo closed what he controlled in NY weeks too late. While ranting we need more than the 53k beds we have in hospitals, he forgot to mention NY had 73k the day he was sworn in as governor.
DeBlasio told NYers to go about their regular routine 3-13-2020. Told them plays to go see right away.
Cuomo by now should have shut the subways. The MTA cut schedules just a few weeks ago. I rode it until 4 weeks ago, and train and subway ridership was down a ton by 6 weeks ago.
In short, Cuomo does have far more control than DeBlasio, and has acted far too late quite often in this crisis, and that has added I believe to the NY death toll.
A little harsh -- not everyone who lives in Florida is a moron, of course -- but the state and local government's decision to reopen the beaches during a pandemic is moronic.
A crowded beach and people aren't wearing masks. Think you can't get COVID-19 at the beach? "Spring breakers in Florida were criticized for ignoring coronavirus social distancing guidelines. Five students have now tested positive for COVID-19" How stupid can you get? With Governor DeSantis in charge, apparently stupidity knows no bounds.

So you can’t explain why DeSantis ignored his own health experts or why he waited for this month to issue a stay at home order rather than ranting. Where did I state that I wanted Floridians to die, those are your words.
Be careful how you toss around the word ignorance with that type of response. If you have an intelligent point to make let’s hear it.
You doubt that the virus can be spread on a beach, that's not what the experts indicate. If you come in close contact with anyone you stand the possibility of spreading the disease and many of those people are in close proximity. Those people in Florida on spring break could have gotten it on the beach, in the bars or many other ways, then they traveled back to their home state. Maybe you should counsel the medical experts on how the disease is spread.
If the rate of death remains low its in spite of DeSantis not because he took any severe actions to curb the growth. Here we are two weeks into his long overdue shut down order and its back to the beaches.
The experts refuse to definitively say anything because they don’t want people to get over-confident and start ignoring social distancing. But come on, there is no way people are getting this on a sunny beach with the wind blowing, unless of course they’re kissing on people that have it or someone sneezes right in their face or touches someone’s unwashed hand and then rubs their eyes or nose or something.
I’m not an expert, but I’ve been to lots of beaches. This just seems like common sense to me.
