I work for a global company of 60,000 and 80% of our workforce is still operating as normal as an essential business. The company is taking every reasonable precaution against this disease and is still finding a way to keep people employed at a top rate and protect them in the process. We are blue collar workers who love America and know we will get through this just fine.
Stay scared and isolated, but don't take the rest of the country down your path of illogical fear. The leftist agenda is grossly obvious at this point and your game is going to get real old real damn fast.

But, big, tough Muricans will mill around in the streets, pounding their chests, while they infect or get infected, because they're FREE!
So, stay home. Nobody's forcing you out into the big, bad, plague-ridden world!
Serious question. If you're afraid to end social distancing by going out, nothing is preventing you from cowering in fear for as many months as you like. And those of us who are willing to risk it can resume our normal lives.
So whose boots are these people licking?
Scientists?
I clicked on this thread to see who you were describing because (in the thread title) you described yourself as part of 'the rest of us (other than the bootlickers)', when on CD when I see the term bootlickers it's usually used to describe Trump supporters, and I know you're a Trump supporter.

If a store opens up because the governor says it can -- it does put everyone who works there at risk unless there is a cohesive policy to protect those employees.

I was wondering the same thing.
The people I know who talk like that tend to be 60+, refuse to comply with social distancing, won't wear masks, and complain constantly that SS doesn't pay them enough.

How will those people be at risk if they're isolating themselves at home? The only ones showing up to work are the ones that CHOOSE to.
Because with this virus, you aren't only risking your life. You're risking the lives of others. If it were just you or any person who wants to be out and about being affected, I'd say go for it. But it's not that simple. It's like burning hazardous waste in your yard. You may have a right to do what you want on your property, but your freedom ends where my space begins.
The old, shopworn argument that some "greater common good", as defined by an intelligentsia, or a bureaucratic clique, outweighs the rights of the individual. As with the imposition of martial law, that might be true for a limited time in an extreme emergency, but the time soon arrives when the rule of reason should replace the pursuit of expediency.
An excellent case in point is the re-opening of beaches in warmer climates. viruses aren't likely to possess as great a threat in warm, open, circulating air and beaches aren't likely to be heavily patronized by the infirm and elderly -- the group most at risk. So this scenario makes a good starting and testing point to identify where else restrictions can be safely, and gradually relaxed.
Sooner or later, the pursuit of unrealistic levels of security has an upcoming clash with the facts of real life.

This is the first time since 9-11 that we've been "personally inconvenienced" at this level by the government. I would argue that this is much worse impacting more and to a much greater extent.
What I want people to realize is that for many of us who are relatively healthy, have a roof over our head, and can spend time b.s.ing on a message board what we are experiencing is what government, all over the world, does to certain segments of the population on a daily basis. Sometimes it's worse...much worse.
I want people to remember what is going on now and understand that this is just business as usual for the government. It has never and will never care about you, your rights, and your loved ones.
My mother used to say this to us kids in the 70's but of course I had no clue what she meant.
It took my ex many years to clue me in to what was really going on around me (I'm a slow learner).

Not everyone can afford to tell their employer I will not be coming into work. So they have to go to Belk's so that some southern belle can buy her Lilly Pullitzer dress because of the economy needs to work and civil rights and all.
