I don't think anyone should be afraid to report their employer for not following the safety rules. They will probably have retaliation protections, similar to if someone reports an OSHA violation.
Reporting your neighbors for having a dinner party or something is silly and along the lines of Barbecue Becky reporting the family cooking hotdogs at the park. I wonder how the "rules are rules and rulebreakers should be reported" folks feel about this, though.
I don't condone violence or the threat of violence, but people who report their neighbors for this stuff should be shamed, IMO. But that's different for shaming for turning in an employer, IMO.
