Only about half of Americans say they would get a COVID-19 vaccine if the scientists working furiously to create one succeed, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
That's surprisingly low considering the being put into the global race for a vaccine against the coronavirus that's sparked a pandemic since first emerging from China late last year. But more people might eventually roll up their sleeves: The poll, released Wednesday, found 31% simply weren't sure if they'd get vaccinated. One-in-five said they'd refuse.
Health experts already worry about the whiplash if vaccine promises like President Trump's goal of a 300 million-dose stockpile by January fail. Only time and science will tell -- and the new poll shows the public is indeed skeptical. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronav...cans-covid-19/
I'm not an anti-vaxxer at all. But I wouldn't get this COVID-19 vaccine.
The virus is decreasing, so what is even the need? On top of that, a rushed vaccine with little time to test long-term effects is a BAAAAAD idea.
I have a feeling that they'll try to make this mandatory and if you don't take it, you can't go to work, flights, stores, etc. But this virus has a 99.8% survival rate, so I'm perplexed as to why this is even needed.

You like the idea of killing people who disagree with you, huh?
And the squiggly red line is your friend. It's "measles". (Folks act like it costs them money to use the spell check feature! Hell, you don't even have to click the damn thing to make it work! It's automatic!)
"And death counts suggest black and Hispanic Americans are more vulnerable to COVID-19, because of unequal access to health care and other factors. Yet the poll found just 25% of African Americans and 37% of Hispanics would get a vaccine compared to 56% of whites."
and this will be considered yet more evidence of systemic 'racism'.

There is still need for several reasons.
Hot spots today and those forthcoming.
And protecting our high risk population.
That being said, there is new news about the old MMR vaccine providing covid 19 protection. In fact I donated a blood sample yesterday for a medical study as a covid 19 survivor with antibodies. Apparently the Rubella virus has many similar surface characteristics with the covid 19 virus.
I would be that if the MMR pans out, it is too soon to say, if more people would go for that since it has a long term safety record?
I'd get it. I planned to do some travel this summer and it's all been cancelled. Hopefully I can go next summer. If there is a vaccine I will get it before I travel so it reduces the chances that I get sick when I travel (which would ruin my vacation). I do the same thing every year before I go to an annual conference I've been too for the past 10 years running. I get a flu shot a month before I go so it reduces my chances of getting sick while I am there and can enjoy it.
