California (all of it now) is closing bars, restaurants and movies. Schools will open virtually. We are right back where we were including shortages of PPE and testing more fitting of a third world nation. Even Mick Mulvaney was critical of testing today. I don't think Trump admin could have done worse had they tried.
California's testing problem is on California, not Trump. We have no problems testing in Florida. I have been tested 7 times, yet I never had symptoms. You can basically get a test within 30 minutes here provided you're willing to pay $150.
140 did not die on Friday alone. The settled number was 119, and that just includes new Covid-19 deaths, that doesn't necessarily mean they died on Friday, just their death was confirmed Friday as being from Covid-19.
Either way, that is a lot of people. Not sure why people insist on pretending there is nothing going on.

Why 7 times? People like you actually make the positive rates look better than they really are.
Is it a lot of people? Compared to what? It's just a lot to you because the old daily death count was around 40.
Yes, it's a lot of people. To put things in perspective, we (the US) have lost more Americans in a few months to this virus than in the entire World War 1, or well over twice as many as we lost in Vietnam in 10 years of fighting.
I provided the spiking death rates (7 day average) for FL, so you can continue to downplay the problem if you wish. The 7 day average is around 75 per day, which is pretty much double from few weeks ago.

You can say the same thing about heart disease or cancer. Of the flu if you expend 6 months to 6 years, give or take.

Or better perspective, about as many people as we lose to COPD per year.....or about half as many people as die every year due to complications from diabetes......or about 1/3 as many people that die from things related to obesity.
Imagine if we were dealing with something as dangerous as McDonalds or cigarettes.
The Covid deaths are on top of all the other causes, so they are additional deaths.
No, they take away from those deaths given that most people who die from COVID would have died from other serious health complications anyway. You just shift the cause of death from things like COPD or lung cancer to COVID-19 if they catch it.
