So if a big city cop (LA, Chitown, NYC, etc) works for 20 years, he has... ....let's say..... 20-30 opportunities (that is a very conservative estimate) to make split -second decision during his 20 years.

He has to make the right decision EVERY SINGLE TIME. If not, he will faces certain death, prison, or lawsuits?

"BE PERFECT OR BE DEAD"

I am sure that will be a good recruitment catch.

Im neutral on it, as I don't kn ow all the parameters. That said, I firmly believe that we don't hold the police accountable for bad decisions.

I think also that they need to be better trained to not resort to lethal force so easily. On another thread Tasers are considered lethal force. I question why we are using lethal force on unarmed citizens?

Maybe they need to use better judgment on a day to day basis. Most cops are the very definition of what good cops should be. Then you have that small segment of cops who are thugs in uniform. Blame them for the march to change, them and the good cops who look the other way.

There is nothing wrong with holding the police to a higher standard than we do criminals.

Police officers can be sued for misconduct by getting rid of the qualified immunity defense that generally protects government workers from lawsuits.

As long as the cop has a perfect day everyday or has $ 25,000 to fork over when he makes a mistake it will be a great job !!! Have a few bad days and they could be into it like a doctor with student loans !!!

Other than that its has some good stuff in the bill !!!

Colorado governor signs sweeping police accountability bill ...

Officers can be sued in their individual capacities
Under the law, officers may be sued in their individual capacities and be liable for up to $25,000 worth of damages.
Excerpt: Officers can be sued in their individual capacities

Response: No biggy........Call for a supervisor every time... throw it in his lap.......let him make the call....

Watch how fast the accountability bill changes quickly over time.

Of course it is easy to make good judgment behind the safety of your home while watching a recorded video of police involved shooting on slow replay in 1080p from multiple angles on your 62in HDTV

I find it funny that people are comparing cops being MURDERED because of the uniform they wear to another profession like electrician/construction worker dies from a work-related accident.

If that is the case you may as well compare the murder of George Floyd to another black man dies from a work-related accident.

It is all the same, right?

So does eliminating "qualified immunity" also apply to other government workers and elected officials? Or do they only discriminate against police?
