No, it didn't free any Slaves as a matter of fact, as a matter of record and as a matter of law, and as a matter of international law.

The Emancipation Proclamation was purely a propaganda document.

Lincoln needed to get Abolitionists and quite a few major Northern newspapers on his side, and that's what the Proclamation was solely intended to do, which is why Lincoln (a lawyer) chose his words very carefully, then sat on the Proclamation for several months after he had written it, before deciding to wait for a Union victory to issue it.

I don't disagree. My point was that the Emancipation Proclamation didn't actually do anything.

Never heard of this until about a year ago. Even my Black friends never heard of it until now. Either way, it has nothing to do with me. My family wasn't even here till just around WW1 and they already did their part against the evil white supremacists by fighting and defeating Hitler and his Nazis.

Reminds me of Kwanzaa...suddenly the media brought it up and made it this big deal...then it kind of vanished. When the puppet masters decide it's time to push an issue the media all obey lock step. Being a national holiday it will be harder to forget I suppose.

I'm looking forward to Octoberteenth. It's a day that has been reserved for the complete exclusion of any leftist holiday or holiday proposal. It's the only normal day of the year at this point.

In contrast to radical, crazy agendas like the "1619 project", BLM, "critical race theory", and "slavery reparations", I have no problem with June 19th. I guess if I was black, I would find that date to be important.

The fact that you believe the emancipation of black slaves is "leftist" is quite interesting.

One man’s this is another man’s that.

Another day off for the Feds won’t kill anyone.

Lol...the truth always comes out in tiny increments. I already know why people are being so triggered by this, but it’s very rare to get the straight truth from those folks. But if you let them talk long enough, it comes out.

The day belongs to black Americans. White people need to stay out of this one.

White people were staying out of it, till the 'crat-media decided differently.
