No jerk. Nascar has had a long history of drivers taking people out when racing that doesnt involve hurting the driver. Guess you arent a fan.
Fine. I stand corrected. But "put him into the wall" sounded like a threat, no matter what the circumstances are. And despite my "ignorance" of the sport, do NOT call me a jerk.

Then dont accuse me of wanting somone to be seriously injured or killed, GOT IT
According to NASCAR the door pull someone put up was fashioned as a noose. So it was a noose, but it was not intended for Wallace. Just some racist wrench having a laugh.
I sort of predicted this would be the fallback position. "All those racist mechanics in racist Alabama making racist garage pulls."

I was dimly aware of Wallace before this incident. I doubt people who don't follow NASCAR had ever heard of him. People who don't win races don't get interviews on national TV, but now Bubba's phone is ringing off the hook from national media. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

He is enjoying the attention. An old saw in Hollywood is there is no such thing as bad press.

I think Haley acted appropriately based on the facts as they were presented.
