Over and over again I read that "Americans are selfish for refusing to wear a mask." Then I consider the airlines packing their planes full while eagerly taking our bailout money and the government only offering us $1200 after we pay them trillions in tax monies and I wonder. What is the battle we are fighting? We can't win if we don't know what we want to accomplish. Is it to establish herd immunity? Protect the vulnerable? Protect or test everyone? Develop a vaccine? Open the economy? Increase medical staffing and facilities? Improve medical access to all Americans? It's easy to blame groups of people, but what we're doing is clear as mud and no protocol is being consistently followed anywhere. Even the scientists contradict themselves.
So far, everyone has been impacted negatively. And for what? A virus we all catch anyway, few will get ill from, and everyone will suffer in some way, financially, socially, psychologically, educationally, physically or a combination of these. Everyone is catching it. I initially hoped we would have universal healthcare at the end of this, but that won't happen either. So what exactly are we doing here? If we had a clear vision, if we knew what our purpose was, maybe people would wear masks and socially distance more. But the way it stands now, we don't even know why exactly we're doing this and it's woefully ineffective.
Maybe. That seems to be POTUS' goal. Like Putin he so admires.
What an adorable reach. Yes, let's ignore the party actively pushing authoritarian and racist BS on the entire country in order to whine about the bad orange man.
That shipped sailed in 1791 when the Whiskey Rebellion went down.
That's fair, we all have different levels as to what levels of rule we will put up with. Anarchists won't put up with any rules whatsoever while our friends on the left yearn for totalitarianism.

Call me crazy but I thought the goal was to lessen the death rate.
Kind of important, no?
