Does anyone appreciate the irony?

We have a former totalitarian communist nation tearing down the statues of Lenin and Stalin, who personified the oppression of the Russian people and presided over the murders of millions.

In the US, we have the American left tearing down the statues of Jefferson and Lincoln, who personified liberty and freedom not only to the US, but the rest of the world.

The US is in the grips of a totalitarian force, liberalism, that seeks to destroy individual liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and every symbol of the men that preserved that freedom. It is "1984" realized.

The real irony is those who support a POTUS who cozies up to totalitarian leaders like Putin while making baseless allegations of liberalism being a totalitarian force.

Again, you have a very hard time accepting reality, as it shows the absurdity of your position. Your colleagues ARE tearing down statues of the founding fathers and those who opposed slavery. Despite your wanting to ignore this, it IS HAPPENING. This is reality, not a liberal fantasy world.

The former Soviets are far more supportive of individual rights and liberties than American liberals, who are the despots of our time.

Liberalism by definition can't be a totalitarian force. However, leftism and progressivism have shown that they are. Those now called "liberals" are misnamed.

One of my pet peeves is how the term liberal is so misused in the US. It equates to leftist, or even socialist nowadays, terms which are also misused. An American "liberal," should he or she move to Europe, would be a Social Democrat or a Green.

My wife spent the first 37 years of her life in the USSR and the next 17 in a hardline former Soviet republic. I can't tell you how many times a week she says "This is just like the Soviet Union!" or even "This is even crazier than the Soviet Union!" She is the biggest Trump supporter God ever made. Anyone who doesn't appreciate the irony is really, truly brain dead.

Yep. Liberalism always meant more free, less government. The Democratic Party of Thomas Jefferson actually believed in that. The Democratic Party of today believes the exact opposite.
