In two cases, the Supreme Court has ruled today that:
(a) The President does not have "Unlimited immunity" from criminal subpoenas, and
(b) Congress does not have unlimited subpoena power over the President.
The upshot is, that Congress must re-try the case in the lower court (if they want to), and supply more arguments why they should be allowed to have Trump's tax records. At that time, Trump's lawyers can also supply more arguments why he should not have to turn them over.
This retrial will likely take a year or more... which means Democrats have failed in their main objective, which was to get the President's tax records before the November 2020 elections, less than four months away.
There goes their chance to take records of any payments that New York builders habitually pay to "smooth things over" to get the right permits or laws or materials to complete their building projects. No more chance to lie twist the usual things New Yorkers always do, into something "horrendously corrupt". No more evidence that payments for building projects overseas can somehow be lied and twisted into RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA for the umpteenth time.

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the Manhattan district attorney can obtain Trump tax returns while not allowing Congress to get Trump tax and financial records, for now, returning the case to lower courts.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court issued a mixed verdict Thursday on demands for President Donald Trump’s financial records that will keep his tax returns, banking and other documents out of the public eye for the time being.
The court rejected broad arguments by Trump’s lawyers and the Justice Department that the president is immune from investigation while he holds office or that a prosecutor must show a greater need than normal to obtain the tax records. But it is unclear when a lower court judge might order a Manhattan prosecutor’s subpoena to be enforced.
The justices also said that Congress has significant, but not limitless, power to demand the president’s personal information.
By 7-2 votes, the justices upheld the Manhattan district attorney’s demand for Trump’s tax returns, but kept a hold on Trump’s financial records that Congress has been seeking for more than a year.
U.S. Supreme Court allows prosecutor but not Congress to get Trump's financial records by Reuters
Trump has spun himself into his own web of lies!! The truth will come out about his fraudulent, cheating and hush monies, dirty money, deals made behind closed doors etc....
Not necessarily. Sent back to lower court to be re-litigated. Any ruling will come after election. Quit reading headlines only. Makes you look pretty inept.
So the Democrats are back to his taxes for the 12th time, Lol. If all else fails (Russia collusion, Stormy Daniels, Impeachment, Moscow Trump Tower, firing Comey, etc) we can go back to his taxes, that nobody with a life cares about.
Nothing will get done before the election so Trump wins there.
If he doesn't get re-elected it could be a different story. The NYDA will see if there is evidence of him misrepresenting his income. If that is the case they can use the evidence to take him to court when he is no longer in office.
Actually this is just the original cases. NY AG will get to see records held by accountants and Banks Trump Inc. Has used to cheat and lie. They can be hidden from the public in Grand Jury. Still sets up Trump, family and staff waiting for jail time.
If the House decides to they can now go back and keep on fighting.
I hope the Dem's follow the GOP lead and keep fighting the case.

His twitter rant and meltdown shows that he is afraid of indictment, conviction and imprisonment. Trump may have left NY, but NY did not leave Trump. Keep on propping up that moron. Gorsich and Kavanaugh ruled against Trump. He is screwed. My letter to you is "Dear GOP, your candidate is freaking out and it is fun to watch". Love, Me

Thanks for the classic example of a rant and meltdown.
Too bad it wasn't Trump's.
