I remember flying before the airline industry was deregulated.

To say the flying experience was a bit different than it is today is a gross understatement.

My theory is that they read that Smithsonian display on “whiteness traits,” saw that being polite was among them, and wanted to make sure nobody mistook them for civil white ladies.
