Rape suspect who was freed due to coronavirus kills his accuser in Virginia, police say

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Police in Virginia say that a rape suspect released from jail in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic went on to kill the woman who had accused him.

The Washington Post reports that Ibrahim E. Bouaichi was tracked down by authorities on Wednesday. But he shot himself and was in grave condition on Thursday.

Bouaichi was indicted last year on charges that included rape, strangulation and abduction. He was jailed without bond in Alexandria. The woman testified against him in Alexandria District Court in December.

When the pandemic hit, Bouaichi’s lawyers argued that he should be freed awaiting trial because the virus endangered both inmates and their attorneys. He was released on $25,000 bond over the objections of a prosecutor. Circuit Court Judge Nolan Dawkins released Bouaichi on the condition that he only leave his Maryland home to meet with his lawyers or pretrial services officials.

Alexandria police say that Bouaichi, 33, fatally shot the woman in late July.

Judge Dawkins retired in June. He did not respond to The Washington Post's request for comment.

Sick. Sorry, but I have no sympathy at all for prisoners who might become infected with Covid. They need to stay right where they are.

But at least Bouaichi was safe from coronavirus. So releasing him with restrictions was a good idea.

It's not like a criminal who likely raped a woman, is going to disobey a judge's instructions or anything.

Naw, who would ever think that?

He's still in grave condition.

With some luck it'll get a little graver.

Are we surprised? Only thing I'm surprised is it took this long to happen. People always feeling sorry for people in prison when 99% of the people there for a reason & the other half 1% are guilty of other crimes which is why they might just happen to be in the spot light as a suspect.

How about all the crooked bankers and corporate execs that never served even one day in jail and through their crooked business practices destroyed thousands of lives and deaths for their own wealth?

Exactly. It's safer for the community because they can't spread their germs. Are these prisoners only released in Dem controlled cities and states?

For killer rapists like this guy: They need to stay in prison and feel the life sucked out of their lungs, lose their appetite and taste buds, gasp for every last breath and then maybe be called down to the medical office for some light oxygen. They don't deserve much more.
