Because leadership is not allowing them to us the force necessary. Start spraying these crowds with rubber bullets, tear gas, concussion grenades, water hoses, and massive arrests without letting these people back out will do the trick. These people need to understand that the law in not messing around and the communities want their streets back.
CPD reporting that CPD responded to a report of a guy waving a gun last night in the Englewood neighborhood.
A gun battle ensued between the police and the shooter. He’s a 20 year old with a long rap sheet of violence. He was shot in the battle. Rumors and tempers flared in the community followed by multiple FB posts calling for looting. Many hundreds of Caravans carting criminals responded and the looting began. CPD called in 400 extra officers.
The National Guard cannot be deployed without some notice. It is not clear if the guard has been put on standby.
Some of the looters turned violent when they encountered the police. More than 100 were arrested. Some officers were injured by bottles.
Mayor just announced she does not care about the fake justification of criminal activity, used by those who excuse crime and give shelter to the criminals. Everything, including tag #’s, is on camera and a task force has been assembled to identify the criminals.
More than 3000 were arrested in conjunction with the Geo Floyd mess 2 months ago. Most were released. No consequences imposed.
Mayor called on judges to do their jobs. “ DO YOUR JOB. No pleas. Prosecute to the fullest extent and impose consequences. Deliver a strong message to the criminals.
CPD has been, once again, put on 12 hour days and time off has been cancelled.

I agree, zero sympathy at this point. None. They have gotten what they asked for. If they want safe streets and a successful thriving city, where law abiding citizens of all colors can thrive, then vote law and order.

Exactly. Between Lightfoot and Kim Foxx, our streets are filled with criminals who should be behind bars and looting isn't going to stop because they can get away with it.
If the Mag Mile had as many cops watching it as Lightfoot has watching her home this wouldn't have happened.
