Osaka has underlying mental health problems, and I think the whole racial justice card is being used as a convenient excuse.

Osaka is primarily a hard court player. She wasn't going deep at Wimbledon, and now instead of transitioning from clay->grass->hard, she transitions directly back to her best surface and rests/heals/prepares for the Olympics and USO. Olympics in Japan is probably once in a lifetime for her as an athlete.

So will the media be banned from the olympics?

They’re going to be waiting for her like she’s the president, with MORE questions about her play on clay services, BLM posts, and “mental health” issues. Goodluck playing at peak performance with that type of spotlight.

Odds are she'll take the gold and follow it up with a US Open win, while whiny internet posters express indignation. But hey, your guess is as good as mine

Ahh yes, because the Tokyo Olympics will be less stressful than Wimbledon, she’ll become an extrovert, and her obligation for press conferences will disappear in a few months.

But your guess is as good as mine.

Yes, I think you are right. Those are the real reasons. And it further demonstrates her dishonesty and lack of character.

Not when you’re ranked #1 in the world in your sport as a teenager....

I guess her mental health will magically be solved in a few months. How convenient.

Oh I believe the mental health stuff is BS and she is a manipulative cheat.

But it absolutely is a once in a lifetime to have a home olympics for most people. Can't think when it may have happened twice! And for most, it is never.

Shes made so much money from endorsements she can retire. She went from being a quirky asset to womens tennis to being an entitled brat. Money does that. Tennis made her rich and now she doesn't want to "play the game"...professional sports make you rich because of the media role in propagating playground games.
